All I need is to be able to get to the mainland to visit my family, I am not going on a cruise! This is my highway and the toll is way to high!

Loosing service and hiking ferry fares hurts on so many levels from land values and commerce to kid's sporting events and quality of life. It seems to me that everytime there is s loss of services or liberty's from the powers that be they are seldom restored. The latest rejig of the Vesuvius schedule has cost my business due to long layovers this turns into unbilled hours that cost me and its revenue that Income tax will not be levied upon. I have personally spoken to several other business people who have shared similar thoughts of lost revenue. And if you think fares are high for regular traffic you'd likely be shocked at the costs for commercial traffic. If it was subsidized by the Federal Government I believe the economicc upswing would generate increased taxable revenue and put more money in the hands of the people. And just to be clear I'm not looking for a free ride as nice as it sounds, I do believe that far to much of the expense is supporting a top heavy structure. I once heard a ferry employee say that they should fire one person a day from head office and the first day a ferry doesn't sail hire back the person they fired the day before. This might be a little over the top but something needs an adjustment.

Honestly? Don't think that the people of BC are stupid. Run the Ferries like the business they are supposed to be. If you can't figure out how, ask the Washington State Ferries how they do it!

BC Ferries has to acknowledge their failure to understand the economic concept of elasticity. Fares go up and demand goes down. It's not rocket science. Fares have to come down, exoribitant salaries for staff and management need to be cut - along with all the perks. Bare bones it people!

Ferries are our highway. All we want is to be able to travel safely, in a timely manner and affordably. No frills, no cruise ships, no fancy anything.

Cut the top where the excess exists! Bring down fares, improve runs & ridership will increase, simple.

I am a disabled pensioner on a low income, and I haven't been to Vancouver in over 3 years because of the costs. I don't care about the food (which is awful) or the merchandise. I just want to be able to go.

BC Ferries need to remember that they are our highway system from the island. I think if you live on the island a current address should qualify you for a discount or pay only one way!! Something needs to be done. So difficult for young families and us olders to plan a trip with the additional cost. BC Ferries created their own problems. We need to be treated fairly.

As an extention of the transcanad hwy the cost has made it extremely hard for people on fixed incomes this has to be changed cut the upper manement salaries and BONUSES

Roll back the fares, restore previous service levels and put us back into the Ministry of transportation where we came from. Stop this silly new scheme of on-line bookings.

They should start to charge passengers and vehicles on inland routes, just as they do for coastal ones. If the ferry is part of the highway system, we should all be paying, or we should all ride for free.

Start charging for inland routes, not just coastal routes. The ferries are part of the highway system, so everyone who uses them should ride free, or should all be charged a fare...

It's high time that we went back to the intended use of the ferries. It is a transportation system NOT a cruisehip line. It IS A BUS and it doesn't take rocket science to figure out the direct corelation between high fares and diminished ridership. In the past, ferries were always full and there were sailing waits. Now, with reservations, high fees the ridership has declined drastically. People on Vancouver Island deserve an affordable and timely way to get on and off the island. $650 million spent on a highway for a 2 week party at Whistler and now a non-tolled road for nothing much more than a recreational destination and we don't have money for ferries. Perhaps they should toll the highway and apply the revenue to the ferries. Enough is enough.

it can't be said often enough, ferries are part of the highway system. They are NOT a luxury item but an absolute necessity to island communities.
