lower the fares to accommodate everyone. Not all people make the big bucks and can afford to get off the island whenever they feel. The majority make minimum wage and 1 hour of work doesn't even cover the cost of a walk on! This is our highway and you are killing us with your outrageous fares. You need to stop thinking about how much is going in YOUR pockets! You would have more people ride and make more in the end if you really think about it, and the it is a win win for EVERYONE! Food

I have significantly cut down the number of my ferry trips this year, due to the rising fares.

Wages and pensions and expense accounts paid to ferry management are off the scale and way out of line with compensation paid in other so called private sector. When fares were raised a few years ago, ridership dropped sharply and the net result was less revenue. If fares were restored to 2007 levels, it is likely that ridership would rise again. Inflation has been around 2-3% in that time, fuel has been going up about 1-2%, yet ferry rates have been rising around 8% per year. What is going on? Trim the fat- we don't need fancy shops, exclusive lounges and fine dining on the boat, if that will save money.

As a Senior citizen of British Columbia, and having lived here my entire 70 years, it is time that B.C. Ferries stops trying to make these vessels into cruise ships and get back to what they truly are, an extension of our highway system. We don't need clothing and expensive jewellry sold on the ships, a newspaper or magazine or a sweet treat is fine. A basic cafeteria, washrooms and adequate seating. Forget the rest. I can't afford a trip to the mainland like most seniors these days. Just too expensive. Get rid of most of your upper level management, you have managers managing managers. I read your 194 page document....ridiculous!! Stop advertising on TV like your a cruise line or travel agent....your not. Take care of some of this stuff and reduce the fares and you will have a full ship again. Oh yes, how about giving seniors a break mid-week when your ferries are half full. We deserve this.....especially when we know you give employees free travel seemingly for life. Thanks for listening to me.

It's just gone too far. We can't afford to travel by ferry to the island. put the managing of the system into the hands of someone who can make it a service not a luxury.

I am a resident of the southern gulf islands. The rising cost of ferry fares has had a huge effect on the economy of our community. The cost of goods has risen considerable in the last few years. Most residents can no longer afford to ride the ferries on a regular basis and this has resulted in our quality of life being affected. It has also resulted in decreased ridership. The cost of bringing your family over from Tswaasen for the weekend has risen so much for average families it is no longer realistic. This has resulted in fewer tourists and regular weekenders which has had a huge impact on our economies. It bass has also affected profits for bc ferries as ridership continues to decline. Stop raising fares! You are killing our communities! I pay taxes in this province just like everyone else. MY tax dollars helped pay for bc

BC Ferries should be put back to the Ministry of Transportation and be funded just as our highways are. If fares are reduced, ridership will increase!
