Deaf People's right to Irish Sign Language Access in the Judicial System.

Definitely doesn't sound like a fair trial you wouldn't do this to a person using a different language i.e. French, German etc

Everyone has a right to the voice of speech and ours is through an Interpreter.

I'm signing this as recognise this situation as an evidence of injustice that should have not happen at all. Did not oblige to human/disability rights at all... Unfair discrimination that what it is.

This is just a basic human right!!

It important for that person to have an interpreter as its his right, Judge should treat both parties fair.

Irish Sign Language !!! It's a Language. Would this stand up in court if he was polish? Moldovan or Italian??? Shame

It just morally wrong!

Judge should've postpone hearing because of no interpreter signer. This guy had a right to have a ISL. it wasn't fair trial.

That is bad. Should always have someone to sign language for them. Never without.

Deaf m people have their rights to have Irish sign language interpreter in all courts in Ireland... The is law for deaf people to have Irish sign language interpreter in the 1901..shame for the Irish judge to .refuse to let deaf people to have Irish sign language interpreter in 2016.. They need have interpreter for deaf people and make them understand

Many people believe Ireland still lives in the 1800s by what is shown in popular culture (Simpsons/Family guy). We may not dress like that these days but often the government or its departments make us look like we have the less than basic human rights of the 1800's.

Irish Sign Language should be recognised as an official language but in the meantime, accessing the courts through ISL, if that's your first language, should be granted to ensure equality and fairness.

Need interpreter for Deaf People and please help them.

I'm shocked at how that poor Deaf mans rights were ignored.

I'm from ireland orgionally and would like to support my roots - its very important that needs are met for the deaf community especially in the eyes of the law.

Audism rears its ugly head - again. I suppose the judge has never heard of that - in that case, someone with such a lack of awareness of people's needs doesn't deserve such a responsible position. Throw this judgement out, have another trial with a judge who has some common decency.
