Deaf People's right to Irish Sign Language Access in the Judicial System.

This is discrimination so therefore judge broke own law too

I full support access to justice for the Deaf community and support any initiative that compels the the judicial system to ensure that qualified sign language interpreters are used throughout each step of the legal process - from caution, to arrest, question and through trial. Without this, justice cannot be served and the judiciary is failing in its duty to provide the mechanism to ensure equity and fairness. More importantly the system should be leading the way ensuring that the EU Directive such as 2010/64 and 2012/29are being implemented since they have already been transposed.

Disgraceful

disgracefully - the person did not not even get his own basic human rights - rights to have Irish Sign language Interpreter. The important to have 100% access to ensure the person understand everything that is going on without it the person is lost and have no protection.

Absolutely disgraceful decision by the judge.

Whatever the charges the man deserves to understand what is happening and express himself to be understood. What a mad thing for a judge to do.

It is a basic human right to be equal before the law.

This is serious discrimination. The judge caused the Deaf man become very stressed and he must be really worried about what is happening. This is unfair treatment.

This is a disgrace. People deserve the right to defend themselves. I am thoroughly disgusted by this. Right to a fair trial is one of our basic rights in the constitution.
