Impairment is the critical, public safety threat. WHAT caused the impairment is determined by a laboratory, and in time will be revealed. Let police perform the public safety function, stop the driver. Let Labs perform lab functions, what was the cause of impairment, and the courts will referee the process. Division of labor please. As it has always been.

The current law for arresting drug impaired drivers is ludicrous. The proposed law (S.3135/A.174) is much more rational in ensuring that law enforcement can maintain traffic safety throughout New York State
