We need Dan! He made Discovery great and it's his enthusiasm that makes the kids love this school so much. I can not say enough positive things about Dan.

The unjust and unprofessional operations of the Board need to be addressed. They need to be held accountable for their actions.

I am completely disturbed that this has happened. Dan Hurley did such an amazing job at directing and running Discovery Charter school. My daughter loves this school and if he's not here. We well not be either.

Considering the disappointment and confusion surrounding Dan Hurley's removal, the school board needs to provide clarity on why this action was in the best interest of the students. It certainly app reads that he has been an asset to this school in its critical first year.

I have 1 daughter starting kindergarten this year following her sister who starts 2nd grade and just completed her 1st grade year at DCS. They live in Farmington which means for me its a hr round trip each day 2x a day. We joined DCS after Padilla academy closed its doors in Apple Valley after she completed kindergarten. The main reason we make the drive was because of Dan any issues we had he was always available and could talk to. My daughter's are both excited about school my oldest has been teaching her sister and brother cries when she gets sick and cant be at school. The most important thing we as parents look for is a sence of saftey when we trust someone with our children. Dan has mine and my daughter's mother. If Dan isn't reinstated another term I know some of the teacher's since they taught my oldest in k and 1st but i cant say i will support them continuing their formative years at DCS without Dan at the helm.

I have 3 children set to be enrolled in the 2017-18 School year, and I am disappointed to hear that this is happening. Dan Hurley was a HUGE part of our decision to enroll the Haas & Radunz children in our home at your school. Please reconsider your decision to remove Dan Hurley as the Director.

As a new parent coming into this school, I am enraged by this decision. Dan is the #1 reason we decided to enroll our son at DCS. His passion for the school, the children, their future brought tears to our eyes. Dan is DCS. There is no DCS without him.

Dan is the reason my kids are at this school and is the reason my youngest 2 will continue at this school. I feel what the board did was horrible. Something like this should have a lot of discussion with the parents before being decided. I really hope they reverse their decision and reinstate Dan.

The very first experience I had with Discovery Charter School was with Mr. Hurley. He put me at ease and did everything he could to help me with my son and a speedy transition from a school where he was unhappy and unsuccessful to this school where he ended up thriving. I bragged to people, friends and the community about how special our school was. Part of what made this school special, as I have been very vocal about, is Mr. Hurley. He not only had a vision but also dedication like none other. I don't think a day went by that I didn't see him outside with the students for pick ups & drop offs. He didn't just welcome students and their families, he had a genuine care and connected with them, motivated children and created a school experience that far surpasses any other. I speak on this from experience as a military wife. We have 3 children and through the years have transitioned through no less than 12 schools/programs and this is the very first school that I have ever seen a director like Mr. Hurley.
I would like to not only express my concern about how losing him will change the dynamic of the school and the children but also say that this change has me considering the attendance of my 2 children this fall... I wanted my children to be in a unique environment... with schools being a dime a dozen I refuse to have my children miss out on the special environments only a select few schools are blessed enough to have... and with removal of Mr. Hurley I feel part of the "magic" in the school will be lost.

DCS was Dan Hurley's vision. The school exists because of his ability to turn this vision into a reality. My child will not be attending DCS without Dan Hurley's leadership. The board has proven its own self interest and unveiled their ulterior motives by making this decision without any input from parents. This cannot be allowed and only hurts our children and all of he teachers who worked so hard to make the first year great.
