I fear for the life of my students’ parents. At least 28 teachers tested positive at my school last week. This needs to stop

It’s the most common sense approach to returning to school after the winter break.

I am a teacher who got COVID from teaching in person and we have to have safety measures truly in place. Our lives matter.

The largest schools in the district should go virtual! Safety should be DCPS’ priority!

Teachers should be a priority before, during and after this pandemic. They are essential to society and every household whether they have children or not. Teachers should absolutely be heard and granted what they need to remain in the classrooms with our children.

Please keep our teachers and students safe. In my school, most students don’t wear their masks and refuse to do it when asked to. Many staff and students got covid and some may carry the side effects for years! I did everything I could to stay safe but still caught the virus from exposure at my school and brought it home to my husband and children. My kids have asthma, does their life matter to you? Does anyone’s life matter? This is wrong!

keeping DC schools is extremely unsafe and it’s going to take multiple people dying to make a change at this rate…

I’m signing this petition for my niece who is a DCPS student. She deserves to learn in a safe, disruptions free environment. DCPS needs to do a lot better than the haphazard manner in which they have done things to this point.

My school was closed 2 days before the pandemic due to high cases of Covid in students and staff. I went to get tested the day that my school closed and was positive as well. I was asymptomatic! Mayor Bowser & Chancellor Ferebee I did everything that you asked me to do! I was vaccinated with 2 doses of Pfizer and got a booster just before Thanksgiving! It was shared with me by your protocol that because I was vaccinated I could return to school if I had no symptoms. I DID! There must be testing done in spite of the vaccinations!!! Our students and staff's health are SERIOUSLY at stake!! I really felt that wearing masks keeping my distance, washing my hands and using sanitizer was working for me. I spent my Christmas and now my New Year most likely, isolated from MY family and concerned that I may give this Virus to my husband who is ill. Also, missing the precious opportunity to see, touch, and hold my granddaughter who was born on 12/24/21. Mayor Bowser & Chancellor Ferebee I love teaching my babies, but not at the COST of my health! Give the students & staff more than two days to determine the damage that Omicrom is doing to our teachers & DC communities! Restore Covid leave for those teachers who have used all of their leave due to covid!
