Libraries in Washington, DC Plan Cuts in Hours. Budget Shortfall Would Also Close Kiosks. The D.C. public library system is planning a severe cutback in hours including closing all branches on Fridays, because of a $2 million in staff reductions in next year\'s budget. The system may also close five kiosk branches, (Sursum Corda, Deanwood, Langston Terrace, Congress Heights, and on H Street in Northeast) which are located in some of the city\'s most under-served neighborhoods. Cutbacks are set to start as early as October 2008. Don\'t let them take your library away! Fight back!
