We are opposed to the adoption of Common Core Standards. We believe that the adaptation of the Graded Course of Study to these college and career-ready standards are in direct opposition to the mission of Catholic education. We, therefore ask the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to immediately

1. halt the implementation of the standards and evaluate their merit over time

2. hold town hall sessions to engage parents and educators to discuss the weaknesses of the standards and address parental concerns

3. consider the removal of curriculum in "alignment" with the CCSS and re-evaluate the GCS

The momentum behind this push is undeniable and it proves the Archdiocese of Cincinnati can no longer ignore our demands. Common Core has no place in our schools and we are going to keep the pressure on until they scrap this disastrous agenda.

Why are we trying to fix something that wasn't broken? The education my daughter was getting before Common Core was above "standard" thanks to the wonderful teachers & administrators at her school. It wasn't broken but now it is. Let the awesome teachers within the Archdiocese teach to learn, NOT teach to test!

I removed my children from Catholic School in Cincinnati due to the common core and lack of religious instruction or integration in any common core subjects. There is no point in paying tuition for the same curriculum used in public school.

My wife and I have already raised and educated four children. Our fifth one is in 4th grade and I do not want her to be the guinea pig in some grand experiment that from what we have seen will fail. 4th grade Common Core math is a joke! She is frustrated and so are we.

Holy Angels - Dayton, OH There needs to be an open discussion, there needs to be checks and balances between the stakeholders & clarity in the details prior to agreeing to implementation of such a big change. Does not seem to be happening.

I read a review on one of the suggested literature books that had very explicit details of a sexual act. If this is recommended for a high school student, I guess I can commented on it. I don't like what I have seen in math, social studies and science. It is not what the Church represent.

The Common Core Curriculum represents further proliferation of the gargantuan state and centralized control over every aspect of our lives. It will not turn out well for religious liberty, or for liberty generally. Please stop it! I am a member of Emmanuel Parish in Dayton.

The testing is a waste of precious time that our students could actually be learning something.
