Childcare providers are being forced into paying Union dues and fees to CSEA/VOICE because they accept subsidized payments from their local Dept. of Socail Services for daycare services they provide, regardless whether or not the provider choices to become a member of the union. These dues and fees are being automatically deducted from subsidized payments without permission from providers and prior notification. Providers weren't given a chance to vote or file a grievance, therefor they've had their freedom of choice taken from them. Providers who "do not" accept subsidized payments and are "not" union members do not have to pay these dues or fees. Therefor providers who accept these subsidized payments are being discriminated against by being forced to pay. Providers are being intimidated and coerced into becoming members of CSEA/VOICE by these forced deductions if they want to continue receiving subsidized payments. CSEA/VOICE has neglected to think of the families and children who desperately need those subsidies to survive, that will be effected if providers stop accepting these subsidized payments because of the forced deductions of these dues and fees. Our communities will also feel the effects of those decisions. Individuals who sign this petition agrees and understands that providers should have a choice to join the union and pay dues. That the agreement between CSEA/VOICE and New York State OCFS should be revised to help providers rather than Intimidate them. These forced deductions should be stopped for non-union members and every provider should have the constitutional right to a freedom of choice and a right to be heard.
