Save our squash courts

I find this incredible that a private membership Health Club would make a decision like this without any consultation to its members. Is there additional revenue coming from the new activity I ask ? After all I thought David Lloyd was a racquet sports club at heart ? Very disappointing indeed.

Please save the Squash Courts at DL GP because I have only just joined Niall’s academy and I really enjoy it

It must be obvious to all staff and management at D L that under the guidance of Nial and his associates squash has increased at an almost exponential rate. One of the most pleasing aspects of this is the way Niall has brought in very junior players and and complete novices. This along with the appearance of lady players should be reason enough for management to support this enterprise which can only improve. Someone somewhere must surely see that what has already been achieved could in quite a short time turn D L squash into a centre of excellence. It must be on it's way. Players ;national and international have appeared on our courts.If the courts go a community goes .

Shocking

After 10 years a member of David Loyd and watch squash grow , and watch coach Niall over the last 18 months take it to an exciting other level of junior and senior squash , im shocked of the news of possible lose of 2 of the 3 squash courts at the club , which would end Essex league team participation which 3 teams participate , let us all hope david Loyd will listen to the members and consider other options which there clearly are....

I know my stepdad and his friends love playing squash competitively and they do it nearly every day, the game creates friendships. They hold the Essex league competition there and they love it. It would be such a tragedy to see all that end

This impacts on other clubs not just at the club. Great shame to remove courts for a Blaze that will be over with in 1 year... Impact it is also having on the younger generation.

Fads come and go, squash is forever

I am a member and play squash at David Lloyd Southend. They are being very non comittal about where these faddy blaze studios are going but judging by what’s happening in the other DL clubs it doesn’t look good

A totally devastating decision for Gidea Park David Lloyd as the courts are extremely well used as opposed to the large number of tennis courts which mostly lie vacant. Niall Engerer has a huge number of players who range from age 5 to 79. They all gain the benefit of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Schools are involved and surely this is where the future of sport and the club lie. Are we not all asked to encourage people to become fitter and the squash court closures would devastate the good work being done. PLEASE think again and deal with each club on its own merits.

A move to multiple uses of the courts and promote squash at schools would help keep alive this fantastic sport.

Hope we can continue to see squash thrive at DL
