No more sexual advertisements

As a concerned parent, I am more and more discouraged by what my children are being exposed to by commercials and other advertisements. Just as we had at one time deemed that cigarettes and liquor should no longer be advertised on television, the harmful effects of sexual advertisements are proving to be even more dangerous. Our children are being exposed at an early age and in an unrealistic format. Our daughters are more prone to be involved in abusive relationships, our sons are being taught that woman are not to be respected. I have control over certain shows that my children watch, but I have no control over the television commercials that my son will see while he is watching a Sunday afternoon football game with his dad. I want my son to know that woman are to be respected, I want my daughter to know that there is more to her than her body and the unrealistic ideals of what her body should look like. As parents we can no longer do it alone, when the media is such a force. We will take control! We will no longer allow these images to be introduced to our children. I will be responsible for teaching my child about sex. I will no longer allow a beer commercial to be my child\'s educator.
