The stir behind the #AmukachiMustGo began from
c omments made by Former Nigerian Striker Daniel
Owefin Amukachi on a Super-Sport AFCON Panel.
He was reflecting on the performance of the
Zambia National team at the current AFCON 2012, where in my sense, he degraded Zambian players
by saying they will be asking for autographs from
the Senegalese players from the first game.
In the
second game against Libya he said Zambian
players look like orphans. I understand that the invited panelists by Super-
Sport are expected to offer a balance of the teams
playing by having support from each team present
on the panel. Support or preference for a team is
Fine, Criticism towards a team or teams is also Fine.
Blasphemy towards a team or teams is unacceptable. I can understand the Zambian team
don't have many trophies to their name, they don't
have many international players that play in top
leagues in the world as compared to other African
countries, but I think its wrong to degrade us to
the point where Amukachi feels our Zambian team will be amazed by playing the Senegalese, to the
point where they'll be asking for autographs. Please don't take advantage of our Zambian
kindness. We are naturally not fighters, socially and
politically. I think an apology is needed here.
Secondly, to refer to our Zambian team as orphans
is totally and extremely low and of no connection
to the tournament being played. Zambian football is
affected by the pain that was left behind by our fallen
heroes (May their Souls Rest in Peace). Our Heroes
left behind grieving Wifes, Children, Families, Friends and an Entire Country. Till this day We do
not know what fully happened and this is a very
sore and sensitive topic amongst most Zambians.
To have Amukachi on a Super-Sport panel
expressing his arrogance, insensitive views and
unprofessional analysis or criticism of our Zambian team is disgusting. We, as a people of zambia and commited subscribers of Dstv firmly stand for the removal of Daniel Owefin
Amukachi by Super-Sport from any sport panel
discussing Zambian Football or any sport being
played by Zambians.
The calls to refer to our players as orphans are still burning in the minds of everyone who cares about this team. We are quietly putting together a formal request to the station to address this blatant lack of respect for our national pride.

Seeing this kind of backing proves that I am not the only one who felt the sting of those cruel comments. It is validating to know that so many others refuse to let our team be treated with such blatant disrespect.

Unprofessional. Calling players orphans is just plain mean and has nothing to do with football. Get him out.

SuperSport needs to do better. We pay our subs to watch analysis not to hear someone insult our national pride. Keep him away from zambian matches!

Totally uncalled for. Amukachi needs to learn some manners before he opens his mouth on live tv again.

This is completely disrespectful! Who does he think he is talking about our boys like that? He needs to be taken off the panel immediately.
