I was in Orchesis in the 80s and it was standard even then for all high schools to have a dance studio! We only have 1 chance to do it right!

Back in my musical theatre days, I would have LOVED to have had such an opportunity. Such a fantastic form of exercise and expression. Future students would be more than lucky for this experience, and not to mention it would do wonders for the future of the theatre program!

I absolutely LOVE this idea! D158 fine arts have helped me grown tremendously and adding a dance class would help students grow with the art of music and coordination. I really hope the board realizes what a great addition this would be to the curriculum!

I danced outside of school up until high school. I would have loved to see dance eduction in high school as I didn't participate in team sports.

Yes! This is a fantastic idea! I have a long way to go before my daughter is in high school, but several friends have kids in middle school whom will soon be entering high school! Let them DANCE...

I fully support the performing arts program. I believe in order for students to have a well rounded education that they should have all the tools available for them to explore. A dance program will help teach students discipline and focus. I fully support Leslie’s proposal.

I strongly support Leslie with this proposal. These students are being deprived of and education without having a program like this available to them. This will only benefit the students in the long run. There are so many opportunities that the District is missing out on by not offering a program like this to their students and the community.

I agree to SUPPORT THE PERFORMING ARTS. It seems our nation is trending toward science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I am a huge supporter of that trend, but I also enjoy the performing arts as do many other people. I know there are youths out there that may not be suited to pursue a STEM career. If there is no option for those students to develop a talent, I am afraid it will be one more thing that will hurt our country in the long run.

From what we have read, it looks like Leslie Parrin has done her homework on the needs and benefits of adding a dance program to the Huntley High School curriculum. We hope the school board gives her proposal serious consideration, because it appears a program such as this meets many of the Illinois Educational Standards in a very innovative fashion for a diverse student population.
