Your piece was both crass and ill-informed, and served only to encourage bigotry. Do you really think that our society needs any more of that?

I'm very surprised that a paper such as the Daily Mail would hold this opinion

It is unbelievable that blatant unthinking sexism of this kind still occurs in a national daily newspaper like the Mail.

I don;t know what is worse the Mail's arrogance or stupidity.

Using the word 'ladies' to describe scientists is inappropriate; where to begin with the Mail's even more overt sexist commentary! It beggars belief that the editors of the UK's most popular newspaper can allow such archaic and offensive stereotypes to go to print.

Sadly this is par for the course. The Daily Mail has a discraceful record of disseminating prejudice, petty-minded hatred and lies.

Minimal professional standards should prevent this sort of egregious shoddiness out of putative reporting. I strongly urge that the Dauly Mail both apologize for this failure and institute changes to prevent it from happening again.

A shameful article reflecting a shameful attitude to both women and women in science.

Truly offensive and grossly ignorant.

This is typical of some men when they feel threatened by brilliantly clever wimin, so they have to resort to belittling them.

This is appalling and it is about time the media stopped thinking it is acceptable to produce inaccurate, and in this case insulting as well as inaccurate, reporting of science.

Just shows how deeply entrenched racism still is in the minds of some people. Still a long way to go!

I complained to the PCC about this article. It contacted me to say that it has not yet decided how to address the complaint.
