A not unexpected combination of ignorance and prejudice.

Perhaps, in addition an apology, the Daily Mail could donate all profits from sales and advertising of its publications which carried this article to a charity which works to fight discrimination.

I believe that the Mail employ women as editors. Double standards?

Disgraceful, but entirely in line with the mysogynistic ethos of the Daily Mail.

Utterly ridiculous comment by the Daily Mail, and shows how out of touch they and their columnists are with real science. Science is necessarily hugely international, and there are many women involved at all levels of physical sciences. I personally think it a wonderful thing to have a whole array of different faces both doing and presenting science.

As a sociologist who often has to deal with the consequences of such reactionary bile from the pages of the Daily Mail, I too am not surprised at this latest diatribe, but unless we continue to object every time they make such crass and inaccurate observations nothing will change.

Typical DM: racist, misogynist and living in a nostalgic fantasy world of white, masculist supremacy.

Daily Mail: beyond the pale. Bought some sandwiches recently, shop owner: "Do you want the Daily Mail" for free with that? Horrified, No! Shopowner put it into system as if I'd taken it anyway, so outcome is happy: Mail gets pulped. Result!

Surely, we have moved beyond this view of science and scientists now?
