Ar y 25/11/14, fe bleidleisiodd Cyngor Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Aberystwyth yn unfrydol o blaid lobio Prifysgol Aberystwyth i ganiatáu cynrychiolydd myfyrwyr i eistedd arBwyllgor Taliadau Prifysgol Aberystwyth

Ar yr 8fed o Ragfyr, bydd cynrychiolwyr Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Aberystwyth yn rhoi’r cynnig hwn ger bron Cyngor y Brifysgol.

Bydd y ddeiseb hon yn chwarae rhan allweddol yn y broses lobio.

Mae Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Aberystwyth yn llwyr ymwybodol o gyfrifoldebau, atebolrwydd a difrifoldeb y pwyllgor hwn ac rydym yn derbyn y bydd angen i’r cynrychiolwyr ymddwyn yn yr union run modd â holl aelodau’r pwyllgor.

Cred Undeb y Myfyrwyr fod Cylch Gorchwyly pwyllgor hwn yn berthnasol i fyfyrwyr. Fel cynrychiolwyr, rydym yn cael ein gwahodd i’r rhan fwyaf o gyfarfodydd a phwyllgorau’r Brifysgol ond wedi ein heithrio o nifer o’r rhai pwysicaf. Mae’r modd y mae arian yn cael ei wario o fewn holl feysydd y Brifysgol yn cael effaith strategol, a chred yr Undeb Myfyrwyr yw na ddylwn ni gael ein heithrio o benderfyniad ar wariant sylweddol megis cyflog a thaliadau Uwch Dim Rheoli’r Brifysgol.

Ym mis Gorffennaf eleni, Goldsmiths, Prifysgol Llundain, oedd y Brifysgol gyntaf yn y DU i roi’r hawl i fyfyriwr eistedd ar y panel sydd yn penderfynu cyflog yr Is-ganghellor. Gwelwyd hyn fel cam positif o ran gweithio gyda myfyrwyr fel partneriaid. Hydera Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Aberystwyth fod Prifysgol Aberystwyth hefyd yn cymryd hyn o ddifri.

Byddai’r cam positif yma yn tynnu oddi ar y gred gyhoeddus fod y broses yn gudd ac yn gyfrinachol.

Os gwelwch yn dda, ymunwch ag Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Aberystwyth a chefnogi’r hawl i alluogi cynrychiolwyr myfyrwyr ar Bwyllgor Taliadau Prifysgol Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth University Students’ Union Council voted unanimously on the 25/11/14 in favour of lobbying Aberystwyth University to allow a student representative to sit on Aberystwyth University's Remuneration Committee.

On the 8th of December, Aberystwyth University Students' Union representatives will be proposing this motion at the University Council.

This petition will play its part in the lobbying process.

Aberystwyth University Students’ Union fully understands the responsibility, remit and seriousness of this committee and it would be expected of the Students’ Union to behave in the same manner as all members, of which we accept.

It is of the opinion of the Students’ Union that the Terms of Reference of this committee is relevant to students. As representatives, we are invited to most university committees but are excluded from some of the most important ones. The way money is spent on all areas within the University has a strategic impact and it is believed that we should not be alienated from an expenditure of magnitude and importance as of the salary and remuneration of the University Senior Staff.

In July, Goldsmiths, University of London became the first in the UK to allow a student to sit on the panel that decides the vice-chancellors’ pay. This was highly regarded as a positive step for treating students as partners, of which Aberystwyth University Students' Union hopes that Aberystwyth University also take this seriously.

This positive step would remove public perception that the process is opaque and secretive.

Please join Aberystwyth University Students' Union in support of allowing a student representative on Aberystwyth University's Remuneration Committee.

Transparency is not that hard. Let students see what's happening.

YES. Student voices matter especially when it comes to the big bucks.

Ridiculous that we pay such high fees yet have zero say in how the uni handles its own payroll. sort it out.

About time! Why are students the last to know where the money goes?

Uni management is way too secretive. Need a student on that committee to keep things honest.

If Goldsmiths can do it why cant Aber? Keep the pressure up everyone.
