We call on the University of Sussex management to adopt the government's tax-free bike cyclescheme, in line with the University's stated objective to 'improve sustainable forms of travel to campus'.

Updates

November 10, 2013

The University of Sussex hides behind bold sustainability slogans while refusing to flip the switch on a simple bike scheme. I am tired of their empty excuses for why they cannot support staff commuting, so we are keeping the pressure on their management until they stop stalling.

November 10, 2013

University management can no longer ignore the momentum behind this demand for a real commitment to sustainable travel. We have reached a critical point where they must stop hiding behind empty slogans and finally adopt the bike scheme.

The tax free bike cycle scheme is of great benefit to both and the environment and, as such, University management should be supporting the scheme to the full

obviously US should have a cycle to work scheme. its a great way to get to work, especially at this campus, from Lewes or Brighton. The councils and buses have actually tried and made it more cycle friendly, so what's holding the university back?

I was really surprised that we did not already take part in this scheme given that we are such a green uni and the travel/building plans for the future!

I cycle every day and would very much appreciate it if Sussex, as a progressive University, would support this scheme

With all the new cycle routes onto campus it seems odd that the University is not supporting this initiative

Given Brighton's 'Green' credentials, and the relative ease with which many people could use bicyles to come on to campus (not to mention the ambition of the University to reduce traffic on campus) it seems odd to me for the university not to encourage this kind of transport in whatever ways it can.

Such a scheme should be part of the university's environmental policy.

It's good for the environment, for public health and air quality!
