Culver City Council: Do not eliminate R1/single-family zoning in Culver City.

Eliminating R1 zoning is a short-sided and disastrous approach to solving the affordable housing problem! I STRONGLY SUPPORT THIS PETITION!

Ill conceived plan to remove R1 zoning. Will only cause overcrowded neighborhoods and severe parking and traffic problems with dangerous conditions for children and seniors and all in our community. In current housing situation , taking away our neighborhoods will do nothing to create affordable housing. Some City Council members have their own agenda in conjunction with developers. Please Keep Culver City as a great community in which to live - not overbuilt and overdeveloped like surrounding cities.

I love my neighborhood with single family homes which is encircled by multi-unit dwellings. I have lived here 24 years and am raid my family here. I believe new multiple- dwellings are being built in the name of greed and wealth- not with the intention of providing “affordable housing” In time I nay be forced to leave Culver City fur to the excess crowding and congestion these units create in our neighborhoods. I do not know where I would go. I am grateful that Culver City still had some “ small town feel” neighborhoods such as mine. I am a senior citizen now on a fixed income at that.

I’m of Mexican descent, my grandparents arrived here in Los Angeles in the 1920’s. They bought and built their own home in WLA. My father who is Mexican purchased a 3 bedroom 1 bath home that I and seven siblings grew up in Venice. We were not wealthy nor privileged. I purchased a home in Culver City in 1995 which was demolished in 2004 and rebuilt adding value to the neighborhood. It was done with hard work and determination just like my father and grandfather. Having lived in many apartment houses a decision was made to purchase in a R1 zoned area within Culver City. We find it appalling to eliminate all R1 zoning by up zoning to R3, thus potentially destroying our charming quiet neighborhood. We are Strongly against the present City Council voting in favor of this up zoning

Mayor and Councilmembers, let’s work together to identify solutions that promote diversity, inclusion, affordable housing, more green space, sustainability, and a city which strives to be welcoming and harmonious. Thank you.

Culver City

Culver City is known and beloved for a few key things that make it an oasis in a huge, and frankly, problematic county. One of those things; our own school district; another; our police and fire departments - and lastly our warm, close knit, intimate, comfortable, safe community of single family homes and the the bonds between neighbors on streets with those homes. There are MYRIAD ways to provide more housing for people who need it in our community, and I am in support of that , but NOT at the expense of our treelined streets with one and two story single family homes. DO NOT RUIN CULVER CITY by eliminating R1/single family homes. NO UPZONING please! We moved here because of exactly what you are trying to eliminate and ultimately, destroy - the low tech, open skyline, great community of individual houses and the people who live in them.

This is a simplistic, wrong-headed solution to a complicated problem and one that will only exacerbate a shortage of middle class housing, let alone homelessness. The effect will be the opposite, pushing average homeowners from Culver City in favor of upper class newcomers and will in addition destroy the nature of our little island amid the leviathan LA.

Please leave the zoning as it is.

This is crazy. Culver City is unique and changing it will destroy its charm. I don't think we want total gridlock. More people equals more cars and traffic. Do your job. Protect our city.

It is a hurried , unthoughtful solution and the impacts and options should be explained to the community. Try notifying and holding meetings when most people can attend.

Please stop the building in Culver City! This is enough! We can barely move as it is. You are destroying the city!
