Culver City Council: Do not eliminate R1/single-family zoning in Culver City.

This would destroy everything that makes Culver City the wonderful, warm, uncrowded and family-centered city that it is. Please DO NOT vote to eliminate R1 Single-family zoning. It would greatly increase neighborhood traffic and make our neighborhood streets less kid-friendly, it would decrease parking. Think about your own housing situation and how it would affect your lives if you were flanked by fourplexes. PLEASE do not vote to eliminate R1 single family zoning. My husband and I bought a house on Keystone Avenue in 1985 and have loved this city so much - it gave us a wonderful opportunity to raise our kids in exactly the kind of neighborhood we wanted to! Preserve what makes Culver City the gem that it is.

Please listen to your residents...what you are trying to do is absurd.  The roads are already a disgrace and the whole country is facing a water shortage. CC "used" to be the ideal place to live...now it is horrid.  I will be blunt and outspoken. things get done in this city depending on who you are sleeping with. Your council members are all jerks. “Do not vote to eliminate R1 Single-Family Zoning. It will NOT create affordable housing! It will DECREASE diversity and affordability. It will DISPLACE seniors and forever change our neighborhoods. Please listen to your constituents."

Having just received a pro-upzoning flyer funded by an infill real estate development corporation (Hackman capital) and the absence of any evidence this change will improve affordable housing, I am against this current effort.

Culver City has always been a great place to live...It has been at or near the top of Quality of Life Cities in all of California....This move will work against Quality of Life for residents. It would a gross case of mismanagement.

Upzoning is NOT affordable housing for middle and low income people. The math doesn't add up and it will just gentrify communities that need real relief and assistance. Zoning needs to be left to each individual city/community that understands its demographics and needs best.

Changing R1 zoning will NOT result in building more affordable or low-income housing. Developers and builders are the only ones who win in the upzoning scenario.

I do not agree with eliminating R1 zoning. I don’t think that it is the best solution for affordable housing in our community. It will instead be opportunities for developers to cash out on our neighborhood and will strain our public school system.

My wife and I live in Sunkist Park. We moved from Santa Monica to AVOID this type of thing! DO NOT REMOVE R1 SINGLE FAMILY ZONING! PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS!

Culver City should re-visit the mixed housing project along Sepulveda south of Sawtelle that was voted down years ago. It would solve the problem of more affordable housing and save our single family homes. As a home owner of over 20 years, I feel that Up-zoning will destroy the wonderful small city appeal that I was promised many years ago.

No I think single family housing is just fine not everybody can aford to make more housing on a single property... we already have seniors on low income or stable income and can't aford to add to their porperties. so why not just live and let live? Try building on there areas that burn down....you know we have fires in California every year... :P...is it not how we came up with Riverside and Riverdale, Canyon Country etc......
