Dear Mayor and city leaders,

Cities across America have already achieved 100% clean energy or have set goals of how to get to 100%. With a President who is trying to reverse the progress America has made toward clean energy, local leadership on climate change is more important than ever.

By setting a goal of 100% renewable energy for our community, we can bring economic opportunity and cleaner air to all of our neighborhoods. By prioritizing projects for economically disadvantaged communities, we can make clean energy a driving force for job growth, wealth creation, and neighborhood revitalization.

Please work with those who want cleaner air and water, good-paying clean energy jobs, and a brighter future for their communities, to create a plan for how we can become a strong and just 100% clean energy economy.

It is more important than ever that Urbana do all it can to prioritize clean energy in light of the disastrous policies of President Trump.

I am signing this petition to show my support for clean energy development in Champaign-Urbana. Why stop at the Paris Agreement when we can make the move to 100% clean energy?

We can do this. We have to do this. With the first high volume frack permit just issued in Southern Illinois, we must stop fracking before it gets a foothold in our state. There are so many options for good jobs and clean energy. We can kick gas, oil, and coal out of Illinois.
