On April 29, 2012 Kati Dayner's viola was damaged on a public bus run by the Chicago Transit Authority. After completing the painstaking claims process, the CTA has offered a mere $1,500 in reparations, a fraction of the cost of repairs, value of the instrument, cost of a new instrument, and travel costs between her home in San Francisco, CA and Chicago, IL. This petition has been created to show the CTA how many people support a fair payout for this incident, and that we all deserve a better and SAFER bus design. Please sign and help promote fairness and safety for musicians and all riders of the CTA.

Seeing 500 names on this page brings me so much relief because it proves I am not alone in fighting for Kati. This instrument is her livelihood and seeing this many people insist on fairness for her makes all the stress worth it.

Watching the count climb toward one hundred signatures gives me so much hope that we can finally hold the CTA accountable for what happened to Kati. Please send the link to three people who believe that artists deserve to have their property respected in transit.

Seriously? 1500 is nothing for a professional instrument. That wont even cover the bow. Do better Chicago.

Total incompetence. They break your stuff then give you pennies to go away. Fix it.

Give her the full amount. Its not hard to see that instrument was worth way more than what they offered pathetic.

The CTA needs to take responsibility for their messy buses. Poor girl cant even play her music because they cant handle a simple claim. Pay up already.
