I would have only been able to pursue nursing through CSUN's A-BSN program. Please allow other like-minded individuals to do the same.
According to the American Journal of Nursing (2015), bachelor's prepared staff nurses "shorten stays and decrease readmissions." Providing avenues to pursue a BSN is not only time-effective, it is also cost-effective and a great investment in the long run.

I did not attend CSUN but I support the program. ABSN students contribute valuable perspectives from their previous education. In addition, there is considerable evidence that graduates of ABSN programs are just as, if not more, qualified than graduates from traditional programs (Bentley 2006, Nurse Educator; Korvick et al. 2008, J of Nursing Education; Aktan et al. 2009, IJNES; Raines 2013, IJNES; Payne et al. 2014, Nursing Education Perspectives).

I have trouble understanding how this program is NOT a priority given how directly it impacts the health and wellness of the Northridge community and beyond. It would be irresponsible to let it fall by the wayside.

As a graduate from the CSUN ABSN program, I can say that this program helped me to reach my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. This program opened up opportunities that I would have never been able to accomplish without the support of the professors, faculty, and classmates. The CSUN ABSN program is highly regarded as one of the best second degree nursing programs by hospitals in Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley area and the CSUN nursing alumni are recognized as some of the best and brightest in the field. Please reconsider pulling funding for this program.

Please keep this program open. My daughter was hoping to start this in another year. We need a program in the valley otherwise you are forcing students to move away from home and incur costs they can't afford. Thank you.

This program is one of the most competitive in the area and attracts very high caliber students who go on to excel as nurses in hospitals and other healthcare settings throughout the community. Nursing programs are incredibly impacted, so losing a great one, such as CSUN's ABSN program would be devastating to the field locally and would further impact other programs that already have long wait lists. Furthermore, as the baby boomer generation begins to retire, the need for nurses will only grow. Please reconsider your decision to close the program, as it is one of the best and would be a huge loss to many.

This program has given us all so much and paves the way for so many fantastic nurses! I know numerous people who are looking for a program just like this and would love to apply because they have heard such great things about this program. We need more great nurses in the world and I believe that this program is one of the best. Continuing this program and the legacy of this school is vital for empowering new nurses with the skills that they need to excel in their futures.
