A great many amazing nurses were educated by CSUN's amazing ABSN program. It would be a shame if it was no longer available to the dedicated and determined students who want to return for a second bachelors degree AND their RN. It take a special kind of person and drive & that is why this program exists to support them

At a time when the nursing shortage is increasing in a state with one of the lowest nurse/population ratios, it is hard for me to understand how a public university could cut back on an affordable nursing education.

The CSUN A-BSN program is a phenomenal program with stellar faculty. I earned by BSN there before gaining my Masters and then my Doctorate at USC. This program is a MUST - and should not be allowed to close! Seriously one of the best programs I have been exposed to. Top notch faculty and teaching. Please reconsider and do not allow this program to close.

This 2nd career program has breathed new life into both its students and our community. The graduates are among some of the most outstanding I have ever known, and closing it or moving it financially out of reach for those whom it benefits would be a sad thing indeed. -Dr.H

This is a very great nursing program that would be hard to find and even harder to replace. I am very fortunate enough to have been accepted to the ABSN program and begin my dream of becoming a nurse. I know there are hundred and thousands of students who wish to have to chance to do the same at CSUN. Please keep this program and keep their dreams alive. Thank you.

Being a part of the ABSN program at CSUN has been such an amazing journey. The nursing faculty and staff has effectively prepared me to become the best nurse that I can possibly be. I give my full support to keeping the ABSN program at CSUN!

As someone who will be graduating in just a few short weeks from this program, I can attest that the CSUN accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing program is truly one of a kind. It's one of the few accelerated programs available in California, providing a unique and invaluable opportunity to second degree baccalaureate adults who are passionate about pursing a career in nursing. The application is competitive and only accepts up to 30 students per cohort, with programs starting in the Summer and Fall that span 15-months to graduation (that's a contribution of 30-60 nurses per year). CSUN nursing students are highly regarded and respected throughout Los Angeles County, California and beyond. The loss of this program would be tragic and close the door to many prospective applicants who are finishing their pre-requisites and preparing for the opportunity to give back and make a difference in the community. Not only would we rob ourselves of the opportunity to continue to develop kind, compassionate, competent BSN level nurses in the San Fernando Valley, but the loss of this program would also impact the development of future nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, clinical nurse leaders and other masters and PhD level nurses. It would be a mistake to forsake on the opportunity that this program provides and to lose everything that this program has already accomplished.

With a couple of years out of university and a growing thirst to fulfill my dream of working in the health field, CSU Northridge's accelerated BSN program was a beacon of hope. The program was close to home- so close I could commute! It was much more affordable than other programs I had looked into and it advertised a diverse campus. I felt it could be a home away from home, and now in my last semester in the program, it has become just that. I have met some of the most supportive, intelligent, and caring people through this program. Some of these individuals sat in the chairs next to me in lecture, some of them taught me from the front of the classroom, and others walked with me through the floors of the hospital. I will always remember the day I received my acceptance letter, and the joy and excitement I felt pondering over the new possibilities that lied ahead of me because of this program. I felt the same joy and excitement when professors would share their encouragement that I would make it through this strenuous yet rewarding program. I felt it when classmates banded together to study for exams, review before clinical days and to meet endless deadlines. I felt it too when patients would tell me that I would make a great nurse some day. None of this would have been possible without the instruction and dedication of the staff that make this program, and without the design of the program itself. I strongly urge you to reconsider closing this door to countless college graduates who are searching for their beacon of hope. Countless graduates who have the potential to become stellar nurses who hunger for knowledge, care with compassion, and approach change with resilience through the direction of the CSU Northridge's ABSN program.
