I am signing this petition because I am a Southerner and have 2 ancestors who answered this States call to duty to serve the Confederacy. Furthermore, I hope the good people of Walton County would read the book "77 years in Dixie, The Boys in Gray from 61' to 65' ", written in 1910 or 11 by HW Reddick before making any rash decisions to move the flag. Mr. Reddick was in a Company called "Walton Guards" which was formed at the outbreak of the war. He is buried in Hatcher Cemetery in Portland, Fl.

In the end it is just a flag. It sparks tempered emotions either way. Any side has a valid point. Please, let's not lose our civility over a piece of fabric.

P.L. 85-425 recognized the widows of Confederate veterans with an increase in pensions frm the US govt in 1958. Is this not also a recognition of the heritage of the CSA to include its battle flag of the Army of Northern Virgina? If the symbol is racist, is P.L. 85-425 racist; consequently, the US govt?

Leave the flag. We have a right to keep our flag . I am a southern girl and proud of it. The flag is not a sign of hate for me. I have no hate in my heart but it's not fair that a few complain and the flag goes. Heck look at all the white police officers that have shown hate for the black race but does that mean we should shut down all police stations. No...we need to all act like equal human race. We are all human with a soul from God. Stop the hate and start showing love that's how we fix the problem.

This flag is in memory of my husband's Great grandfather William Allen Lundy and dedicated to ALL Confederate soldiers from Florida . The flag and monument have been in the same spot for around 50 years or so . Admit it , most of us drive by it several times a day and never notice it . Some didn't even know it was there at all when ask about it . I personally have not ever heard of a criminal instance due to that flag flying .

Save the battle flag!! This is NOT a CSA flag as every uneducated person thinks. It was never flown as the country's flag. It does not represent hate or slavery, it represents the people standing up against oppression from northern politicians.

People we have got to wake up and see what is going on in America!! God is showing us that the end of time is approaching quickly. He will allow these ungodly things to continue for only so long and then He will take care of everything in a twinkling of an eye. The Confederate Flag we see flying on Ferdon Blvd. Is there to commerate Bill Lundy and his service to OUR COUNTRY during the Civil War. How about all of you that are opposed go join up and serve your country and then you will feel different about a lot of this nonsense that is happening in America today.

Ok, I have tried to hold it in but I can't any longer. After the huge debate with the confederate flag and the people that want it removed citing racism, why don't you look at other things that are truly racist and or sexist. Lets eliminate affirmative action, ebony magazine, minority scholarships, NAACP, Miss Black USA, B. E. T., the New Black Panther Party, etc. the list goes on and on. So quit picking and choosing what you determine to be racist or sexist, do some research educate yourself and go after all the racist and sexist organizations.
The flag is not racist and is part of our heritage, keep it and let it fly proudly remembering the lives white and black that died to defend it.
