To live in a world that is still bias According to skin color is saddening and 2018. A person should be judged on their character. Everyone bleeds the same and puts on their pants- exactly. The. Same Same. No one is better than the other especially when they are living a life that that contributes health and care to every race . If this club insist on living in the dark ages, They should lose their members and funding. Period! Can’t even believe I’m signing a petition about this. Disgusting behavior.

As a Navy veteran and Citadel graduate, I am appalled that blatant racism exist in today's society. Furthermore, I am extremely disappointed and concerned that I recently joined a club that fosters racism. As stated by many petitioners before me, "I will not renew my membership if this is not corrected IMMEDIATELY".

The fact that a very, very few can ruin the good name of an organization for us all is abhorrent. We had a chance to do the right thing and, because of an ignorant few, we didn't. We need to discuss our bylaw on this, which is way out of date, and fix it. As a veteran myself, my membership hinges on us doing the right thing.

At The Citadel, I learned that the man standing with me was my brother, regardless of the color of his skin. I look to the members of the CRC Board to correct this horrible mistake.

I will not renew if this is not remedied. It is shameful to be part of a club that acts like this and it is not a club I want to expose my kids to.

It's unbelievable that the most qualified candidate we've ever had brought before us was denied membership because of the color of his skin. I am so ashamed!

Straight racism, but please don’t resign because it further reduces our minority. Stay and fight for decency.

I resigned as CRC Chaplain and did not renew my membership over this blatant racist act. I can see the economic toll this is already having on the CRC. I wonder how many blackballs were in the box?

I’m embarrassed to be associated with such a sickening display of racism...let’s call it what it is. But I’m also committed to fighting it. This is 2018, guys. I’ll listen to any arguments made in opposition to any candidate’s membership, but if a schmoe from Ohio like me is voted in with no objections, opposition to any candidate must be clear, concise, and egregious.

It makes no sense to me that a Naval Officer would be denied entry to our club. We are a group comprised of many, many veterans. Any man willing to stand on the wall is a man worthy of membership. I do not believe any applicant should be granted membership, but we're speaking of an exceptional man by any standards.

I am embarrassed by the outcome of the actions by the members of this club that have let this matter become an issue in our community. We need to change the bylaws so six members do not speak for the entire club
