I have signed the petition and hope that I will be joined by many other members in doing so. What has been going on of late with the membership admission process is simply not good PR and is really "bad for business"! The Club will be badly hurt by a Cap on Membership and the Adverse Publicity it will generate. I intend to attend the upcoming Board meeting on Wednesday evening just to listen in on the proceedings to get a sense of what the Board members are considering as potential solutions to the current impasse! Personally, I'd like to see the Membership Committee expanded in number and its name changed to an Admissions Committee, which would be granted additional authority to advance a candidate to admission simply through expansion of its vetting process so that it can, on behalf of the membership at-large, thoroughly examine the citizenship and overall character of each individual candidate, as well as assessing reasons for joining the Club. A unanimous vote of the Committee would advance the candidate's name as a Prospective Member in the next two issues of the Club Newsletter, during which time any member of the Club may anonymously bring additional information to the Committe's attention that is believed to be materiel and could have a bearing on the Committee's previously announced, and unqualified support for the Prospective Member. The Admissions Committee will thoroughly review any additional information received and determine, by majority vote of its members, whether to sustain or withdraw its support for the Prospective Member. If support from the Committee is not withdrawn, Prospectve Members will be invited to attend the first regular Club meeting after payment of their initiation fee/dues and upon completion of the Club membership rules indoctrination. Believe that a process such as this will avoid the public embarrassments that have occurred over the past several months in that candidates for admission will only be formally invited to a

I am in full support. Mr. Brown meets all the qualifications. He is a good man and we should be honored he wants to become a member. The real issue remains. The current “black ball” system that allows just six people to control membership acceptance is unjust. The board of directors needs to readdress this issue and move to correct this flaw in our membership process.

It’s disappointing in this day and age that we are having to condemn such actions. As a club founded on the basis of good moral character in its members, our actions do not reflect our bylaws. I fear that the reputation of our club is in jeopardy of being tainted by the actions of a few members who do not seem to be able to get past living before the 1960’s. I hope we can come together and find a reasonable path for this club to move forward.

I am insulted by the arrogance of these few hateful people plaguing the club I love... Pure unadulterated stupidity.. These members are embarrassing to the rest of us.. It pains me with all of the real issues in the world today that we have to waste time with this nonsense.. To hate because of skin color is mind boggling to me in this day and age.

Melvin is about as good a person and qualified a member as I have ever met. It is embarrassing that we have to resort to this!

I totally agree. I hope every club member will sign this. Silence indicates support for this intolerance.
