My child would come home very late after her extra-curricular activities, should the school start time at Payton be changed to 9:00 AM. Plus, it would be dangerous for my child to take public transport at such a late hour.

Please change the start and end times back to original time for Walter Payton College Prep. The original time is better for commuting and better arrangement for extracurricular activities.

I am very much AGAINST the new time change. My son has a very long commute & would make participating in sports very difficult if not impossible.

New schedule does not work with regular work hours, traffic, etc.

Central office is so out of touch with the children enrolled in cps schools it isn't even funny. You can't even hang on to a ceo let alone say what time is a good time for the students to start or end school. Leave that up to the school to decide what time is best. My son is involved with after school programs and this hour change will have a negative impact on that.

Unless you will provide school bus for my daughter don't change the times, we live in the far south, safety is already an issue

For our students' sake please consider the whole child when making such decision. LSC should decide what is best for individual school not central office.

The later day will be a huge problem for the students at payton. Their course load and home work will keep them up so late with no break for family or extra cirriculars.

It is ridiculous. Please change the start and date time like last year!!! This definitely will not work for high school students, especially with such a high standard for Payton's academic. Students will suffer!!!

Also take in consideration the well rounded student that colleges are looking to accept. How can these students accomplish that with a later dismissal time. They won't have time for sports, clubs, volunteering and other areas that are deemed important. Where children outside of the city of Chicago would have a greater advantage then those attending the gifted and classical public schools in Chicago. What a shame!

This would have an adverse effect on students and their ability to participate in extracurricular activities after school and of course, completing homework in the evening and getting to bed at a reasonable hour. Resulting in poor academic performance.

As the school year progresses, a 4:30 leave time means all kids will leave school at night. And I agree with others that home time for dinner and homework would suffer.

There are other ways to make cuts without jeopardizing student safety and welfare.

I feel the change in time would put my children in danger. My children was already getting home around 6:30 to 7 p.m. nightly with extra curricular activities. I am also concerned about the time that my children would have to do homework and studying. This change in schedule also makes the rush hour more crowded and congested. Please consider returning to the old schedule.

As a parent of a life long CPS student with a travel time of greater than 1.5 hours after school via public transportation I am strongly interested in keeping the original start and end time. This was a major part of my decision in apply for Walter Payton as my ONLY choice due to schedule time and location in proximity to my job. I drop her off between 6:45 am - 7 am and I arrive at work by 7:30 am, which is a late start for me. My students arrive at 7 am to allow them to leave before 3 pm for safety sake. I'm truly concerned about the rationale of this dictatorship style of high school scheduling. This is not appropriate for selective enrollment or schools with city-wide boundaries. My daughter participates in Cross-Country (Sept - Oct), Indoor Track (Jan - April) and outdoor Track (Spring). Practice is daily until 5 pm and meets end later. In addition, she has a standing invitation to the a park district soccer team from her elementary coach and she is awaiting to take LEVEL 4 Red Cross swimming lesson in the evenings at the local city college. We have an active spiritual life and perform a lot of volunteer service. This would ALL be hindered by changing her start time. First and foremost would be safety... She would be leaving alone in the morning. I live near a park where child abduction reports have been reported in the televised news several times and many of those instances were for young girls who fit her description during the hours she would be forced to travel to school alone. THE LATEST INCIDENT LAST WEEK INVOLVED THE SIBLING PULLING HIS SISTER BACK OUT OF THE VAN OF THE WOULD BE ABDUCTOR BY HER FEET!!! Also, rape has been an issue where women are at the stops alone. This start time would put her departure AFTER the morning rush for my area since we are not near the business district where most jobs are. Why should my child be considered worthless by putting her in this danger unnecessarily by placing her in a travel segment AFTER the mor

Please return to early start and end times. It will ease congestion on public transportation. I will ride public transportation on the BROWN LINE, and RED LINE to see how the change to later times impact my child's commute. I have other reasons to oppose later start and end times. Firstly, extracurricular participants are going to get home pretty late. My second reason is for students who must work, I feel later end times will limit their opportunities

CPS - what about family time ? what about healthy lifestyle ? kids who participate in school sports will not be home until 7:30 or later which is later to be eating dinner..
