The Blue Line is already miserable during rush hour, we don't need even more riders at that time.

It is unfair for CPS to change the start time of high schools just based on a 5% or less minority of special-ed students that use the buses. Clubs and activities will be negatively impacted, all for the benefit of perhaps 50 students.

I agree about the mayor's part of responsibility of thi, but for the governor, I see it differently. In my opinion, the blame is strictly on CPS and Mayor Emmanuel, not Governor Rauner. Sure Rauner might have made the budget cuts, but it was CPS who decided what to cut. CPS could have considered other items to cut, but again they used their wallets and opinions instead of their brains and CPS along with the mayor in my opinion are responsible for this entire conundrum, not Bruce Rauner.

IT IS unsafe for both regular riders and the students. And as we slowly lose more CTA service, thanks to the present Governer and our Mayor it will get worse.

I have not read all of the comments, and this may already be discussed, but the lack of thought that went into this decision is inconceivable. Assuming that CPS truly can save several millions of dollars by changing the bell schedules at some, but not all, schools, how possibly did they come up with the idea of imposing these changes on selective enrollment high schools? The students who are fortunate enough to attend those schools have by far the furthest to travel to get to and from school. Many students commute for over an hour in each direction. As a result, those who participate in extracurricular activities may not get home n the evening until after 9:00 pm. In contrast, if the schedule changes affected only neighborhood schools, where most students walk to school or travel only a few train or bus stops, the negative impact of a later closing bell would not be nearly as significant on the students or their families..

My daughter goes to CPS and if we start late she won't be home until sometimes 8pm at night if she does after school activities. Add homework on top of that and it will be a nightmare!!

Proper management of limited infrastructure should include staggering use between current wage earners and future wage earners. The system is already too taxed during peak period.

Adding to the laziness of kids these days by pushing back their start time. Ever take into consideration that parents have to be at work by 8-9:00 AM? Another brilliant Idea by the genius' running this shit hole.

CPS did not consider families who have children in multiple schools across the city. How is it possible to coordinate various pickup times/ CTA travel times and with the added factor of rush hour? RAHM AND CPS: you sicken me!!! The students' safety means nothing to those talking heads.

This decision would adversely affect any student who does any extra-curricular activity.

I strongly believe the later school start and dismissal time will potentially expose our children to less safe commutes for those on public transit (as my daughter is) and allow less evening hours to fit in any extracurriculars, commuting home, studying, and dinner.

The later start time would hamper our daughters, both students at Payton, hindering participation in extra-curricular activities.

The late timing is terrible and will add one and a half hours to the daily commute because of traffic. After school activities and family time will be seriously curtailed. These timings make no sense for our school which is majority commuters.

My son and daughter are students at Payton, and an hour later start time will seriously disrupt their personal and educational life.

The school end time is far too late for these students' physical safety, any semblance of family life, and study/activity schedules. These are city kids, many of whom take at least an hour to travel home. Unfair and sad if this doesn't change.
