It's a disgrace that people can move close to a pub and then can force them out of business. Why are councils across the country even entertaining such complaints.We have lost so much of our public house heritage due to the smoking ban, cheaper superstore alchol, brewery rents. It's hard enough for landlords without adding these extra pressures.

Well how neighbourly of them! They should pop in for a pint and support the local boozer, rather than complain! Very sad!

I agree Carl. If you choose to move next door to any pub, particularly one that does live music, then you should expect it to get noisy

so true Graham...maybe they are backing the wrong horse here! i feel that the licensing has been judge, juror and executioner, but i am sure we will have our day, we will provide all these comments and signatures both from here and from the pub and present them proudly, i don't think they are aware of the hornets nest they have stirred up! some angry Castle pub users out there, all i can say is we are now taking the fight to them!

we need all the support for this issue! we can relate and understand that it is a neighbourhood pub, but we feel that 9.30pm is too early to force the monitoring of the garden. we also feel that a compromise may be in order and can be achieved

I have been to the Castle on regular occassions and have never been aware of any excessive noise. No more than one may get from neighbours gardens. Lets be honest, the pub has been there for years - so if people move nearby they should know what to expect. I suppose any problem they may have with noise should be viewed as twat tax...if you want to live in silence dont move near a pub. This sounds like the council being unable to cope with a stupid complaint so they are going with the line of least resistance (but they are in for a shock - the unfounded complaints of a few residents will be nothing compared to the grief they will get from disgruntled customers (who will probably number in the hundreds - and most of whom will be voting in the elections for this ward in May! - councillors, are you aware of the danger to you seat by backing the wrong side here? ).

and the street will suffer with smokers in the street .. nice one neighbours Nice one Council that makes u smoke outside.
shall we be quiet walking OUTSIDE to the ladies toilets too , no wait lets pee in the street too cos its all that is left
