With the threat of sea level rise, it is more important than ever to retain green spaces and create nature-based solutions to stabilize the shoreline. We need to protect and restore our open spaces for the health of our bay.

Keep in mind that a designated park will also have many negative, unwanted outcomes.. traffic, trash, noise, tents, parking etc.

Homeowner 17 Tunapuna Ln, we support the fight against these development. We bought this house for its prime location which is private and not for public parks, beaches.

I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents, long time owners and residents of Antigua Court. This would disrupt their small part of happiness by blocking their view and creating unnecessary traffic to and from, and around, their home.

I am against this proposed RV park they are now calling cottages. We have lived in the Cays upwards of 30 years. We value the lack of congestion, the peace and quiet and the opportunity for endangered wild life to prosper. This would be an awful proposition for the Cays.

A wretchedly and nauseatingly horrid idea. Will the Port, in its greed, ever stop trying to cement over every green space along the Bay? Did this “luxury developer” (as he is known) ever bother to read the publicly available history of this parcel, showing that NO prior development proposals were ever approved? Here are just a few of the many reasons to oppose this luxury developer’s plans:

 1. 24-hour security lighting is harmful to birds, disrupting their circadian rhythms and migration, as well as changing their feeding and reproductive behaviors. It’s also an eyesore.

2. Siltation and sedimental runoff from ground clearing, construction, and landscaping, will affect the clarity and pH of the seawater along the beach, leading to a loss of marine plant life, particularly for the eel grass which serves to filter the water. Because these plants provide food, birthing areas, and protection for fish and other marine animals, this may also affect the fish population. 3. Habitat loss and coastal degradation invariably lead to a loss of biodiversity.

 4. Our residential neighborhood was not designed to handle the traffic associated with hotel/RV resorts, daily and nightly delivery trucks, noise, and 24/7 operation of facilities. 5. Tourists don’t have the same priorities as residents with early morning work commutes and early bedtimes for young school children. Further, there is nothing touristy to do here, which means they will be driving in and out of the Cays multiple times per day.

 6. This would necessitate an increased need for fire, police and emergency support in the Cays, and possible taxation to pay for it all. 7. A loss of view-shed for most bay facing properties, resulting in lower home values. 8. The Port is keen on having budget hotel accommodations. But make no mistake: this luxury developer’s trailers will in no way be budget accommodations. And as for the Port, no vacation accommodations -whether luxury or budget- are appropr

No RV units. The idea of a park that can be used by everyone is much better and will support the community well.

Cottages By the Cays is a terrible idea. It will change our quiet, friendly community. It will add a lot more traffic to our existing roads. This area should be an open space and part of the planned parks.

I strongly oppose the RV Resort proposal and advocate for an open park space with free access for all. Please don’t develop this land for residential use and instead beautify it by making a free outdoor space for all to enjoy.

Please do not allow these cottage into our area. It will hurt our property value. Our quiet community will be a congested mess with traffic and basically trailers.

I own and live full time at a home at 3 Tobago Way. I do not believe this project is in the best interest of the community.
