No Cottages at the Cays! Support a future park!

Coronado residents don't need or want a development that just brings more people and traffic clogging up the Strand.

A resort would bring a tremendous amount of traffic to an area next to a park that’s used by many residents of the area. It seems that a park would benefit more people and not just a few. There are already many resorts and other tourist attractions along the San Diego and South Bay.

I oppose the proposed plan. Port land is for everyone to enjoy. Our tax dollars pay for it.

I would like to see the area returned to a natural state. Perhaps a display detailing the sanctuary, south bay habitat and rare turtles, birds and other indigenous species that could thrive without further development. Even a Scripps research/ educational center would be amazing.

Coronado does not need an “RV Park”

Keep nature, we need to also protect marine animals habitat and coastal plants.

We do not have the proper community infrastructure to handle a mobile recreational facility. This venture is also entirely insecure for the children who walk to and from the bus and play freely in the Coronado Cays. Reducing the safety and home values, while not having enough proper resources, is purely motivated by greed. I propose we make that land a protected sanctuary, and plant indigenous vegetation to bring it back to life.

I oppose this development ("Cottages at the Cays")

Michael & I agree with this petition and are in opposition to the development plan for 41 RV-style "cottages", two multi-functional buildings and public restrooms/showers on the "additional park" space. Calling the facility "cottages" is in effect putting lipstick on a pig as these are still RV's, licensed by the DMV, being used to circumvent the policy restricting residential units on Port-controlled land. During the 12/3/2022 meeting points were made by the development team that this was not an RV village and would somehow benefit the Cays community (a small grocery, nice landscaping, 12 additional parking spaces for the Cays Yacht Club (while taking away many more), beachfront that would be "more" available for kayaks and boards than at current even though there is no issue with the current access, while ignoring the 100% negative view of the Cays residents.

Hard pass on using the space for anything other than green space, as is the current port authority plan. Allowing any commercial venture to utilize the space will make them eligible to renew the lease and eliminate the chance to actually have that land be of value to the community.

An unwanted commercial venture with no redeeming features.

Negatively impacts the look of the Bay developing right on the water.

The project will create more traffic than the Cays can handle.

It's going to severely disrupt Grand Caribe

This project will significantly increase the traffic in the Cays.

This is going to negatively alter the landscape on the bay.

We do not want the proposed project of a trailer park! There is not sufficient ingress or egress with our current road layout! The weekends are a messy on the beaches with out more people using the current beaches!

I am strongly opposed to this proposal. We need a park not this disaster.

I’d like to see another use. Perhaps a senior living assisted facility for those in the community who want to stay close to home, have services and a view:)

Limited access with resulting congestion. Not for Coronado.
