'Cosplay is not consent' signs to be placed around MCM expo

Totally and completely agree with this, cosplay is supposed to be fun and it has been made ugly, especially for women

I've experienced stuff like this before and its not a nice feeling.. It sticks to you for the whole con. I even have had someone say "if she dresses like that shes practically asking to be touched." Um no. I hope this does pull through!~

I can't believe that we actually need to address this. It seems like common sense to me.

I agree with the respect of cosplayers asking for consent because they do have rights as people. I am one and I know too well.

Cosplay is not consent, cosplayers have the right to enjoy their fun without being harassed.

Signs should be put on doors to the toilets.

I've been uncomfortably stalked at a different convention with no security in sight. I was beyond scared.

Comic con should be about having fun and neither male nor female should have to worry about uncomfortable situations resulting in what they choose to wear

I've been groped whilst in cosplay and it is not acceptable! Need better placement of these signs for sure!

It's SO important that people feel safe attending an event that they should be enjoying. They shouldn't have to worry about being touched inappropriately or having inappropriate comments directed at them, whether they're in cosplay or not. I've been going to MCM for years and I've NEVER seen any signs like this, even if there are some. They need to be much more visible.

We give non-cosplayers their personal space at conventions (at least I should hope we do), why do we not extend the same courtesy to those that cosplay? Asking for a photo is fine, but sometimes people need to be reminded that cosplayers are people too (whether they're being paid to be there or not) and that sometimes they need their space; they're often cosplaying there for THEM, not for YOU. A little bit of respect and asking first goes a long way.

This needs to be at every convention not just the more popular/famous ones.

Yes, this needs doing. We do not dress for this kind of behaviour. We dress for the fun of it, not our fault our favourite characters were designed as they were, but touching because of how we look..no no. Nobody deserves to feel scared or embarrassed or sexualized. No. Please, these signs would help so much.

There needs to be more awareness that just because someone is dressed up does NOT give anyone the right to maul them or even to touch them at all without consent!!! This is a bigger issue than people realize and needs to be addressed on a MUCH larger scale! These signs are a step in the right direction.
