'Cosplay is not consent' signs to be placed around MCM expo

I like to dress up as Patrick Stewart, we have similar hairstyles, so going to ComicCon for me is great. I don't like it when people touch my head though. I think these signs are a good start, but I think information leaflets or even information adverts on existing leaflets would make a huge difference, and announcements made by event staff could also discourage this inappropriate behaviour. As an older man, I am firmly confident in my own skin but I also understand what it feels like to be a younger, insecure person, and this kind of behaviour can have a negative knock-on effect on other areas of their life. This is a great petition and I don't think enough people realise just how real this problem is. Keep it up!

Coventions are places for you to enjoy yourself - no one has ANY right to make you feel uncomfortable!

The Lord will fight for you and you will only have to be silent. God is everywhere. Sinners will be punished for their crimes and answer to God. A man who touches the forbidden rose will have his hand pricked by the thorn, he will bleed and be hunted by the servants of God. God is truth. All you need is Jesus.

Cosplayers are people! Yes, they are dressing up crazily in public, but that is because they love it and they want to do that! You have absolutely no right to do something to them without them telling you it was alright! Don't be a jerk!

I go to these expo's because the babes who dress up always bring their A game. Idiots who touch ruin it for everyone. Lets get it stopped.

I would be in favour of signs.

I don't dress like Sailor Moon anymore because people keep touching me or lifting my skirt. I wrote a letter to the organizers but it was ignored. I fully support what you are doing and hope it makes a difference. Susan

I believe in equal rights for women. signs for this are good. more people should know about women and their rights.

Was once followed around by someone cosplaying from the same thing as me. I was friendly, we chatted for a few minutes about the show and gave a hug (as I usually do at expos if someone is comfortable with it). He ended the hug with a very creepy comment about wanting to kidnap me and at that point I got very panicked and said I was heading back outside. He followed me and my 2 friends I was with for nearly the whole duration of the walk before we walked/essentially jogged outside. It's the only time I've felt uncomfortable in cosplay but I know I won't forget how bad it was.

In this modern age there should be no need for a sign, but alas, a few sad, lonely con-goers just do not seem to understand what a personal boundary is. I am all for this. Whoever is in charge of the expo, should take some damn responsibility and help protect the individuals who make your events the unique spectacle they are. It is your duty.

A friend of mine had a panic attack at one of these conventions. It takes a lot of bravery for a shy person to dress up and try to be proud about their body but being touched is too much for some.
