Cork needs a direct connection with Berlin. Its cancellation several years ago has impacted significantly on my regular work-related travel to Berlin.

I have lived in Berlin, have been published in Berlin, have a new book coming out there in German translation next year, travel to Berlin often. It is ridiculous that the Cork - Berlin flight has been discontinued. It should be reinstated very soon.

As a scholar who travels and works in Berlin at least a dozen times a year, and who conducts study tours in the city, the reinstatement of the Cork-Berlin flight is central. Otherwise Cork remains provincial Ireland, subservient to Dublin.

I am an embedded researcher with German FM company who also has an office in Dublin. In Cork we take part in Irish and EU projects relating to energy management as well as with clients and customers in Ireland, UK and Germany. Travel options from Cork are limited to via London or Amsterdam so often I opt instead to travel from Dublin. In either case you must set aside a day for travel each way. Similarly my German colleagues must do the same to visit Cork.
