I remember walking with my cords around my neck and feeling so accomplished! Every Cook High graduate deserves to feel that! BRING BACK THE CORDS!!

There are very few traditions that remain in our society today and anything that encourages and rewards young students for their hard work and accomplishments needs to remain in place. Our education system is constantly evolving and change can be good, however, the symbolic nature of cords needs to remain timeless.

As a Cook High graduate, I believe cords should be allowed. They make even those who weren't excelling academically feel like they had accomplished something.

I did not graduate from Cook high, but I did attended Cook high school my freshman year & still have the Hornet pride in my heart. I can not see where this change would benefit any students. Although I do see where it can affect the students in a negative way causing them to not strive & push themselves in the area's that they are gifted in & enjoy showing their talents in. This is a horrible move on the administrations part & I hope this plan is thrown out!

I realize this is but one of the cords being taken away...but has it occurred to anyone that the person who has earned a cord for numerous blood donations could be saving the life of an honor graduate?? (Or a school administrator...)
What could be more deserving than that?
As an honor graduate of the class of 1995, I know that academic achievements are recognized in more ways than just the cords/stoles worn at graduation. It takes NOTHING away from the honor graduates for the cords to be worn. It GIVES younger generations something to work towards, it CONTINUES the tradition of excellence that Cook High has always been known for, and it PROVIDES graduates with pride and priceless memories.

Give the cords back to the rightful owners, the students who have worked to achieve them, NOT the High School Administration, Who makes our school look good, our students who try to make better with there life...

Please allow these student to shine on their day they have worked so hard to do. As a mom of two graduates, it made me so proud to see my kids be so proud to show off what all they accomplished. My youngest has one more year before she graduates and has talked about all of the cords she will wear on graduation. She has strived from day one at Cook High to do her best and earn all kinds of achievements. Please as a parent and as a teacher, let ALL these students shine on their day! They have worked so hard to be somebody! Cook High has always been a place to make ALL students shine don't take away their dreams on one of the best days of their lives!!!

As a freshman I looked at the graduating seniors with all of their adornments and marveled at how accomplished they looked. I set my goals high and my graduation attire proved that I was not only academically successful, but also involved in my school and community. Don't take away someone's goals. That's isn't what the school system is for.
