Remove the Cook Shack Cafe Structures from Alexis Creek

It is abandoned and the amount of rodent debris is enough to get rid of it... it is a health problem foremost and fire risk is troublesome. I could not believe someone did not lock the doors!

My family used to own this property, it was called the Hitching Post. I spent 3 years in Alexis Creek, i say tear it down and plant dope there.

This property has become a terrible eye sore. It is also a health and safety. It needs to be demolished and the property cleaned up.

The building is an eyesore on the town and a definet fire hazard. The building has been run down for years and i feel that if it were in a more urban area it would have been gone a long time ago.

Not only is it an eye sore but it’s also a major fire hazard. We have been in Alexis creek for 10 years and it’s been in a terrible state for the whole time.

Please remove this construction of contaminated buildings. It has been a disgrace to the community of Alexis Creek for decades.

Terrible sight to see daily and to work beside. The hazards of the peeling tin off the roof are of serious concern as is the high fire hazard. These buildings NEED TO COME DOWN.

Directly uphill & neighbouring this fire hazard & pestilence breeding centre stands the RCMP Detachment, their families, the 2 Medical Clinics, & several private residences. Metal roofing is peeling off with every wind gust...and blowing towards the RCMP homes where children are playing in the yards. WHEN this abandoned series of structures succumb to arson, the intensity of that fire will likely result in most adjacent buildings, residences, & facilities to also burn. This is a dry fire-prone region & thus preventative measures (fire-smarting) must be responsibly applied by the province as well as residents. As voters & tax-payers we don't forget the immense contribution the Cook-Shack Motel & Café have made for decades to the provincial economy, having supported the Cariboo-Chilcotin mining-oil-gas exploration industry, the loggers, the log haulers, hwy maintenance/repaving crews, the trucking industry, the forestry consultants (like myself), tree-planters, tourists, mushroom pickers, the local forest service, the ranching industry, HWY 20 travellers, & all the local residents. Our government collects taxes resulting from all these businesses & workers who benefited from the vital services of the Cook Shack Café & Motel, & thus accept the responsibility of cleaning-up the site left-over from the tragic passing of Rudy, the former owner & operator of the business...and for that matter, of ANY site of similar hazard. It is always much cheaper to act preventatively than to rebuild an entire town's infrastructure. The province has enjoyed many year's grace from this probable disaster (arson ignition of this site is just a matter 'when', not 'if') I have been a resident of this town since 1994, & stayed myself at the Cook Shack Motel for the first six weeks of my new job until I secured permanent lodging. Cleaning up this prime business location would also greatly improve the optics of our town & region, & promote new productive business opportunities. T
