Continuity of administration at Fernbank Elementary School

Ms. Ray is uniquely qualified to be the incoming principal due to her understanding of the current Fernbank and her ability to shepherd the school into becoming the new, larger and more inclusive Fernbank.

I've moved a few times within Dekalb county and have seen principals come and go for various reasons. Joan Ray stands out as a proven leader. She is engaged, experienced, understands diversity, supportive of staff, and passionate about education. Not to mention, she has blossomed under the resolute leadership of Mr. Marshall. The right thing to do is to keep this leader intact and allow Fernbank to experience some of its best years ahead.

Ms. Ray would be an amazing principal. It makes so much sense with all of the changes for next year to keep Ms. Ray on to bring comfort and familiarity to the students, parents and teachers.

Please retain Ms. Ray as principal of Fernbank Elementary School.

Ms Ray is the logical choice to replace Mr.Marshall as principal, particularly with the influx of additional students from Montclair this coming year. She has been at Fernbank for many years as a teacher so she knows what teachers will need. She also knows the ins and outs of Fernbank which will be immensely important for a smooth transition. She has done an excellent job as vice principal and has had the chance to be mentored by one of the best principals, Mr. Marshall. Choosing anyone else will only result in a rocky transition for students and school.

I have known Joan Ray for many years and experienced her deep understanding of children personally. Joan Ray is the right person for this job and no one else would do the job as selflessly as she will.

Joan Ray is a godsend for each individual student and the Fernbank community as a whole. She understands my child, loves her with all of her heart, and advocates for her every chance she gets. I support Joan Ray's candidacy for Fernbank principal. Jason Marshall leaves very big shoes to fill and Joan Ray is one person, the only person that I know of, that could fill those. She's wonderful, intuitive, organized, charismatic, dedicated… I hope she will be strongly considered.
