Shame on UAB President Watts. These kids have put in a lot of years of hard work to earn a scholarship to play collegiately. Alabamian's love football. I don't know what you were thinking. The timing and way you did it was very unfair and lots of the kids couldn't concentrate on finals so their grades suffered. Also some of the kids on the rifle team have bought their own equipment and rifles which aren't cheap because the school has outdated equipment. My daughter worked through the summer to earn 3000.00 to buy a rifle her freshman year. We had to spend thousands that could have contributed to her college expense on rifle equipment and match fees and travel expenses but she was acheiving a goal so we were glad to do it. Even though she will still get her scholarship it probably won't be for 5 years so she will get stuck paying for her last year of college. She is proud to shoot for UAB and now has to tell everyone she isn't shooting anymore. You have upset a lot of students and parents. I hope you will consider reinstating them and you need to come clean if you are covering for UA trustee's so we all can know the truth.

I think it is time UAB came out from under the UA system Board of Trustees and has its own Board of Trustees dedicated to looking out for UAB's best interest.
