It is wrong to shut down the football program as well as so many other programs related to it, namely the marching band and cheer leaders, regardless of opposition from fans, students, and community leaders.

Some of my best memories from high school was being able to go watch UAB play football. I now have a son who is a year and a half old and I hope to be able to share the experience of UAB football with him.

Everyone always says follow your dreams. If you cancel this program, a lot of people will not be able to follow their dreams. Save UAB!!

The sports program is vital to the economy. It is also crucial for school attendance, scholarships and the undergrad program. If the BOT truly care about students, they will not end this program. So many students have an opportunity to live at home and commute to UAB and this makes it more affordable for many families that do not have the income and means that the BOT members have.

This is not only affecting the football program . The marching band and band program at the school will also be negatively influenced by this. Sports and band are both two important things to have at a university and the students that participate in these activities/life styles leave college with more knowledge, experience, and people skills that they need to succeed in this world. Think before getting rid of something that could be detrimental to an abundance of students and the school its self.
