I am 1984 graduate of the UAB MBA program and a significant financial supporter of both the UAB football and basketball programs. I have been in discussions with a athlete department representatives to also leave a very sizable portion of my estate (several hundred thousand dollars) to the athletic program. However, if the football program is killed, I will sever all ties, both personal and financial, with UAB. I cannot emotionally and financially continue to support a program if it does not have the support of the university’s administration. I frankly don’t care what the rigged study shows, I will do my best to persuade every other financial supporter of the athletic program to also cut their ties with UAB as well.

As a Boston University alumnus I would warn other schools against getting rid of a major facilitator of alumni giving.

Quite frankly, without football, our athletic department will be in trouble...our other sports will suffer. If that happens, I have less reason to stay living in Birmingham and being a part of the community here. If football is ended, so will my allegiance to UAB.
