My son is considering attending UAB in the fall, if football games were not part of the college experience, I imagine he would consider attending another school.

I work at UAB and everyone is talking about how good we are this year. We need to fund for a better stadium so more people will come out. My wife was a golden girl at UAB, we go to every home we can. Don't take away blazer pride

I am a 1993 UAB graduate and currently have a Sophomore at UAB. He is a proud member of the Marching Blazers. Cutting the football program affects the entire school not to mention the city of Birmingham. This move would take UAB back 20 years. Please consider carefully!

From a Jacksonville State Gamecock, I support your petition to keep UAB Football alive. There is no need to kill this program.
The Univerisity of Alabama Tusc. has no business telling UAB what goes on with their athletic program.

It's very discouraging and downright infuriating to see the UA school system continuously threaten and more often than not cut funds to athletic programs within its system. Sports programs that provide entertainment on campus, give the student body school pride and tradition, and give the athletes a place to continue their talent while pursuing a top-notch higher degree--just wiped off the map. Programs that are cut just as they begin to reach their peak such as UAH hockey (NCAA division 1 turned club then reinstated during the 2011-2012 year after students petitioning), UAB Basketball (G-bye Mike Anderson and NCAA tournaments-- we can't pay you a successful coach's salary), and now UAB football (one minute giving the students hope for a stadium that's their own, then the next year, talking about doing away with it altogether?). However, the UA system will find a way to purchase a new football coach annually and pay off the previous "unsatisfactory" one, if a certain shade of red colored jerseys don't have such a hot season. I guess UAH and UAB only exist in the system to produce some of the most intelligent and successful college graduates, which includes but is not limited to the world renowned engineers and health professionals. We only find a way to cure diabetes entirely, why should we get to have any fun along the way? It's apparent that the UAB bumper sticker holds truth. "Our nationally ranked team wears scrubs." Yep, that's right. UAB is world-changing medicine. But, does that really have to be ALL that we are? As both a Blazer and a Charger graduate, I will continue to support both of these wonderful college communities and their battles to keep what they have and their struggles on the difficult path of growth in the UA system. Go Blazers and Charge On! :)
