3 independent schools in the state system 'share' one board ...but there is no sharing because this public board controlling billions in tax dollars chooses its own replacements - to the tune of 13 Tuscaloosa grads/2 Birmingham grads/0 Huntsville grads. They win the vote every time. Hundreds of millions of dollars loaned to Tuscaloosa greeks to build new mansions but not a dime for greeks in Birmingham to build any housing at all? Check. Invest hundreds of millions for new dorms and nationwide push to increase undergrad growth in Tuscalooa but not in Birmingham or Huntsville? Check. Grads/fans/boosters of the Crimson Tide controlling the purse strings for Birmingham's D-1 athletics program (conflict of interest?) Check. Bear Bryant Jr.'s son and BAMA boo$ter #1 serving as BOT president while $tarving a team he loathes - the UAB Blazers? ( a school in the midst of a billion $ capital campaign, located in the state's largest city. Check. Investigation or sports documentary into the BOT ...not yet.

This sounds very similar to 1989 when UA alum didn't want football at UAB. We've come too far to allow this to happen.

Not sure why you would end their program. Have gone to several UAB games the last few years to watch my nephew play and really enjoyed them. When something seems to be working why do you need to destroy it.

Go Blazers! I was a student there for several years when there was no football team. Seems like things are much better with this football program.

I am proud to say UAB athletics launched my career in college sports. It is shameful that the student-athletes, coaches, athletic administration, parents, fans and anyone who has ever been touched by this department have to endure this ongoing uncertainty. This isn't just about football. This directly impacts every facet of the university and its identity. #RespectUAB
