CONTINUE HIGH QUALITY VIRTUAL LEARNING AT PHM!

People's lives are at stake

Virtual learning should be of the same quality as in person learning, and under the newest plan, it will not be. Families should not have to choose between safety and education. It's disappointing that PHM is forcing them to make that choice.

Please continue imparting high virtual learning education is to kids whose parents are making an effort to make it safer for the students who cannot stay home due to various reasons. Thank you.

I feel that students should have the option of quality“virtual” learning if they are not attending in person.

My children will not do well with the in-person learning option with restrictions. They will not be able to wear masks all day. I also feel they will not do well with the independent proposed e-learning. For example, my middle-schooler is currently thriving in the virtual learning environment. She has the right amount of instruction and independent study. She also really enjoys her teachers. She is staying on top of her studies and not falling behind like she did with e-learning. She was overwhelmed with the independent e-learning during the spring. I feel the e-learning leaves her to basically teach herself while also completing assignments. If she didn’t understand something, she didn’t have the same access to teachers and likely won’t if the change from virtual to e-learning takes place. My boys are both in elementary and doing fairly well with the more structured virtual learning environment. However, the virtual learning leaves something to be desired and I end up teaching them many math and language arts skills. They are not able to work independently so the change to e-learning would be even more detrimental to their education and our family schedule. The constant changes to their class meetings have been difficult to keep up with. We now have a schedule for class meetings and my children are used to them. Now we are being forced to make another decision that will change their schedules again? What will happen if the schools closed again? That will mean more changes for these kids. Why not stay consistent with the virtual learning for one semester? I made a commitment to do that for my children even if that meant I had to give up my business activities for the time being. Please reconsider your decisions about e-learning. My children did not learn much doing the e-learning. It was busy work for them.

The proposed virtual ("elearning") option after September 14 and 21 is unacceptable! Our kids deserve a better option than what the board has approved. The current synchronous virtual learning option is working. Self propelled extended elearning does not!

Trust the science. Please make this easier on your teachers- these are stressful times for everyone.

Please continue the virtual model. In-person instruction is too risky.

Virtual learning should only continue synchronized. No one benefits from asynchronous learning.

Continue synchronized learning for virtual learning Days. Elearning projects the concept that kids don’t need their teachers . This is far from the truth!

PHM is doing all they can, and I will join this group to ask it continue by synchronous virtual education. My kids are growing and learning and happy. They will return as science has more time and we can offer more space for others to attend safely who need to.

Basically, you’re asking us to choose safety over education. We chose virtual learning because we feel it’s not safe to send our child in person at this time. It not only keeps her safe, and we have the availability to do so, but it saves a spot for another kid who desperately needs that in person slot. With the current virtual learning, I feel she is getting the quality education PHM is known for. With this new model, you’re throwing her and all the other virtual students under the bus to fend for themselves. Why isn’t it possible to hold those in person classes and let the virtual kids log on to google meet (or something like it) to attend the class and get the exact instructions? May not be ideal, but it’s better than what is being offered after September 21.

My daughter is thriving on the current virtual plan. I know it is asking the impossible of teachers to teach both in person and virtual students at the same time and it has not worked so well in other districts, but there must be something to work. Families choosing to not attend school in person should not be punished with a less than optimal education.

Some parents are being forced into this option and it's not because they're afraid of Covid

I’m very disappointed in our district’s decision to return students so quickly, but reverting to a sub-standard mode of learning for students whose parents don’t feel it is safe for them to return is unacceptable!

I have gone from impressed to extremely disappointed in the district. This is not the learning model that was presented to us earlier in the summer. And now we have to chose between keeping our kids and families safe and getting any kind of quality education at all.

It was presented at the board meeting as live instruction for virtual students.

Please keep the virtual model that is currently in place. Learning another learning structure could be risky.

I echo the same concern over the quality of virtual learning after September 21. It is critical to continue to provide the high quality education to students who choose virtual learning. Thank you!
