CONTINUE HIGH QUALITY VIRTUAL LEARNING AT PHM!

I’m very concerned about your elearning plan AND your hybrid plan when some students return to face to face.

We know better and should do better. This isn’t an acceptable way of learning for our kids.

High quality education is a must. The virtual elearning model is not providing the kids with the same education as the current virtual learning platform they are doing right now. We went down the elearning rabbit hole in the spring and it didn't seem that they received the same education as in person or even the current virtual platform.

Do not go back to the old model please!!!!

The hybrid model will reduce the daily quality of education from 5 days of live lectures down to 2 days, with the remaining 3 days of asynchronous work without teacher guidance. Just a morning check in. This is a huge drop of daily interactions, live instruction, and structure.

All families should be concerned with making sure that a robust virtual option remains available for PHM students. Those of us who have chosen the face-to-face option will be using the virtual option when faced with the inevitable quarantine, isolation, and/or positive cases of COVID-19 that will appear in the schools. Everyone should work together to ensure that virtual students remain an integrated part of the classroom community for the duration of the pandemic.

PHM teachers have done an awesome job in these past few weeks with the virtually learning platform. Our decision to continue with virtual learning is to keep our teachers and school staff and the community safe. I hope the school board will respect the decision of the families who choose to request virtual learning and continue to provide a better and advanced virtual learning platform instead of going back to an "elearning"/ self paced model.

I was under the impression the virtual model was still being worked out in terms of what that will look like. I hope that children learning from home will absolutely receive the same quality education as those returning to school. I applaud the teachers, principals and everyone who has put thought and effort into organizing both models. I fully understand it's not been easy.

The description of the virtual option makes it seem like the plan is for asynchronous learning only. If your plan is for the virtual learning to remain synchronous, you need to let parents know this immediately. I am seriously hoping this is simply a poor description in your form/email as we were very clearly promised that synchronous virtual learning would be available all year.

Like they do today with virtual learning. I do not want to go back to elearning model from the spring. 2) I was watching some teachers not wearing their masks properly at the School Board meeting. Wearing masks under your nose serves no purpose. If teachers are not modeling how to wear a mask properly how will we expect students too? What are PHMs plans for dealing with students and teachers who refuse to wear masks properly? Are you going to control what type of masks are used. There is a lot of science that says some masks are better than others. What is the plan? Look at Notre Dame, and perhaps you should wait and see what happens when Notre Dame opens back up to in person learning again this week to see how their numbers go. They were more prepared then you are now when they started up. They had to close down once already because some students were not wearing masks and socially distancing. 3) I feel bad for the teachers because it really looked like Dr. Thacker was ignoring their concerns @ 1hour and 3 minute mark he asked about what the policy was going to be if teachers felt unsafe and whether they would be required to come to work. He said they were going to follow the legal standard. We have laws. I am guessing most laws and contracts do not have a pandemic clause. I would have like to hear more concern for the teachers' lives. It is shameful. 4) @1:07 Thacker said "working with parents, parents will be sending their children with some of these things as well." While I do appreciate all of the work that everyone is doing for the good of our students, I will admit to finding myself incredibly disappointed in the results of the last school board meeting. The only way you can safely send students back in person is if not all of them choose the in-person method. If 100% of students go back, then the schools will be unable to maintain social distancing. Therefore, the virtual option should not only be encouraged for families who have to option to do so, but the quality and set up should be enticing enough that families want to choose it. It has gone so well so far this year and I truly wish that the initial plan to stick with it through the end of October would have been reconsidered.

Keep PHM with a superior and high quality education for ALL PHM students while we all work through this most difficult virus situation.

There are so many reasons I would rather the children still do elearning. I am one of the people whom Covid would most likely kill.

Life is more important. E-learning is the way to go.

Please continue virtual learning with synchronized learning on the days that the hybrid in-person students are at home And the full virtual students are at home daily. Other schools in our area have done the hybrid model broken out by alphabet, where some students have only gone in person 2 days a week and others are full virtual students. At all times, those that are virtual for the day can googlemeet into the classroom and be “live” with the teacher and their classmates and learn the lesson in real time. Knowing all the resources that PHM has and then technology they have, they can surely do the same thing to give ALL students the highest quality education that each and every student deserves!!! Otherwise, it seems that full virtual learning as is being done now is a much better learning experience and should continue as such.

I completely agree with this analysis and conclusion. Virtual learning is being disregarded under the current plan. Why not keep the ongoing virtual instruction continue rather than downgrade it?

1) New Hybrid: 3 days of synchronized learning and 2 days of self paced learning per week 2) New Virtual only: 1 day (Monday) of synchronized learning and 4 days of self paced learning 3) current all virtual learning: 5 days of synchronized learning per week Neither new option provides any better than the current synchronized live virtual learning because in both options students are doing mostly self paced study during the none-synchronized virtual learning days. The students with the virtual-only option will receive an even worse education since they are basically doing self paced e-learning all week except for Monday.

Assign designated teachers to virtual classes

That model did not work last year, surely we have learned that and can do better!
