Consumers to Keep Organic Growing in the Soil

I agree and think that to add hydroponic to the list of acceptable practices will ruin the trust that our customers have in us to provide nutrient rich foods.

Follow the NOSB recommendations!

I want my food grown by soil based organic methods

Silicon is a beneficial substance found in real soils but often lacking in hydroponic solutions. This just one example of something found in soil that may be lacking in nutrient solutions.

Let's not abandon Nature

I am a farmer, in soil, and agree that soiless growing has absolutely nothing to do with true organically grown plants. Organic production is a combination of soil, soil organisms, organic matter, minerals, atomic elements, and seeds and the farmer must be a steward of them all.

National Organic Standards must and can only pertain to growing of the food in the manner prescribed by nature. Hydroponic is not nature and is not what consumers who prefer organic have in mind when deciding to buy organic.

Thank you Dave for organizing this petition. Organic standards need to mean something for them to be meaningful to consumers and growers alike.

Here we go again...this is not a band wagon to jump on. This is a conviction of stewardship of the soil.

soilless organics should be labeled as such. if we are asking for right to know gmo labeling the same should go for soilless organic veggies

Hydroponic growing is chemicals in a bag. What happens to any trace minerals that would be in the tomatoes that would be grown in soil instead?? It's all another marketing ploy for people to make money under false pretenses.

Hydrophonic growing is not organic, various chemicals/fertilizers must be placed in the water for nutrition of the pants. Only soil should be organig growing

Keep organic real! It's bad enough that water and air are so polluted and we have little control due to the large metropolitan areas; at least keep the "soil" rich organic foods true to the name!

I am a certified-organic farmer and I urge the NOP to follow the recommendation of the NOSB to prohibit hydroponic produce from being certified organic.

Food should be planted in soil to be labeled organic.
