The VALUE of organics is the ecosystem protection for life on earth to flourish. Hydroponics, though useful, is not a replacement for survival on earth via biodiversity preservation and growing SOIL. We want to pay the premium for SOIL PROTECTION, not soil replacement. You can't replace earth.

As the former manager of VT Northern Growers Coop, a farmer owned and operated organic cooperative in the late 1970s and 80s, I fully support this petition drive. The basis of organic farming/gardening resides in the fertility and tilth of the soil, not chemically fed water.

As a consumer, I support LOCAL growers that practice Husbandry- loving management of the land and all of the micro- and macro-critters cohabitating theirin. I DON'T BUY test-tube food!!!

I believe that organic includes the concept of being oppen to all the usual interactions that take place in the environment of soil with all its interactive live and vital elements.

As a human being who appreciates the complexity and value of healthy soil, I have a right to know if my food purchases are promoting the building and improvement of soil or not. Accepting the NOSB's recommendation would make this clear for all of us.

The fundamental of Organic Agriculture is that plant's roots are in the soil which in turn is connected with the earth's mantle. No other method of cultivating plants is organic, even if organic methodes are used.
