Consumer's Deserve the Right to Choose their Agent!

I have sold health insurance for over 20 years and am an integral part of my community members' lives. Have you called your insurance company lately? Wouldn't you rather call me? The commission-payment model promotes very hard work. Agents provide invaluable personal service and help to the clients that they serve. They call me when they have problems or have questions regarding their policy - not 1-800 HC.gov. We work hard and help our clients understand the enrollment process and obtain "affordable" health care. My clients are upset that my pay/compensation is being cut now down to $20.00 per month per person.... this is not an affordable wage for the amount of constant education, valid State insurance license, liability insurance, background checks, fingerprinting that we have to obtain to stay in business.

I, Monica H Folse, from the State of Louisiana, am signing in protest of the fact insurance agents are not being paid a commission for the assistance & advice they provide. I also understand that the insurance company’s premiums are filed each year, with commissions included inside the premium calculation and I question how they can be removed legally. I feel this is a breach of contract between the insurance company and the agent. Additionally, I believe it is misleading to the insured because their premiums include commission in the calculations, but the commissions are not being paid to the agents.

Insuarance agents, like attorneys are CRITICAL to assisting theb public and to reduce commissions is fundamentally STUPID! As long as the ACA exists, there is no way the public can handle itself nor depend on "navigators" for valid assistance.

I am currently in the process of helping an individual straighten out his Obamacare navigator assisted enrollment enrollment which is completely screwed up. My pay for the time spent will be $0 but I cannot walk away from people needing help.

Agents put in a lot of long hours training in order to be able to help their clients make informed decisions regarding their health insurance. We deserve to be compensated.

Its not right, they are taking away our livelyhood

After spending 3 to 4 hours helping a couple they have decided they want United Health Care. So, I now get to enroll them tomorrow and make -0- ! Unlicensed navigators are making $, but not the licensed agents? Completely unfair.

The Federal Government squanders our tax dollars, piles on to the federal deficit and now wants us to work for free. Where is the country going and how the heck did we ever get to this place

This is putting thousands of agents out of business and consumers will have no one to turn to for professional advice that costs the consumer nothing.

The practice to not pay for services rendered is not just immoral but illegal. For a company to purport to a State Insurance Commissioner that their expenses include commissions to Insurance Agents, and then not pay those agents that have put much time and effort to secure their client, is wrong and should not be allowed. Agents need to constantly take Continuing Education Classes, Product Requirement Training and Education, pay for their CE courses, pay for their Errors and Omissions Insurance, etc. Agents should be fairly compensated for their work!

It is sad that I am now telling my clients I can no longer help them because the Govt. sets the rules. They no longer have the option of when to buy coverage, what doctors they want or who they want to do business with. Not only do I tell them my hands are tied, but I am no longer paid to help, only Federal Employees are paid by their tax dollars. Was the ACA law not written to give the American people choices or to AGAIN limit or remover their rights to make decisions for themselves. I have been blessed to support myself, but soon I maybe be unemployed. Where have our rights gone?

Our health system is very expensive, and the most cost effective way to distribute and manage insurance policies is through a professional health insurance agent.

The reason any sales person gets paid commissions is because of the knowledge, education, and experience that he/she provides to the consumer. To see that insurance company's are reducing or eliminating commissions to agents tells me that the insurance company's are no longer caring about the customer/consumer. You should never talk to a telemarketer about insurance, as they are not licensed to do so. Just as you would never go to your attorney to ask about an open heart surgery procedure. Agents earn their living by providing all the above things to consumers. And for most agents in this industry it is the beginning of a long lasting client/friendship between the consumer and the agent. After over 27 yrs in this industry I never thought we would be having this type of conversation about commissions!!!

Let the consumers choose!!!!

Very concerned due to the lack of the individual's knowledge of the ACA.

Agents work hard for our clients and it is unfair that insurance carriers are allowed to remove/reduce our commissions. Meanwhile the Federal Government is spending our tax dollars to pay non-licensed, unqualified people to quote and sell coverage to millions of our customer base. Was it the ACA's intention to have the American tax payers pay non-licensed people out of our pocket and allow the insurance carriers to stop paying commissions? What a travesty! What a loss to the American tax payers.

A lot of time and effort goes into helping someone choose and apply for medical insurance. The whole process is very complicated and difficult without an agent's assistance.
