Topps officially confirmed they are returning to specific language guaranteeing game-used memorabilia on their cards. This victory belongs to every collector who refused to settle for vague marketing. Keep inspecting your future pulls to ensure they follow through on this commitment.
The language guaranteeing the authenticity of the relics used in cards from Topps has gotten more and more vague over the past few years. It has now come to a point where they no longer even include in the language that the relic was even used by the player depicted. As you can see from the image, all it says is that the relic is Authentic Memorabilia with no mention of any other sort of authenticity on the back of the card. Well, the t-shirts and jerseys we can buy from any store is considered authentic memorabilia as they are licensed by MLB Properties. As a consumer of Topps products, we have a right to know what we are purchasing from them. Anything less than full transparency is a disservice to the collecting community that they claim to serve and a violation to our consumer rights. Please join me in signing this petition, which will be sent to Topps once we've reached 1,000 signatures and resent every 1,000 signatures.
The feedback coming in from collectors shows that this lack of transparency is hurting the trust we place in these products. Take a moment to post this link on your Facebook feed so we can hold Topps accountable for the language on their cards. If you have a contact at their customer service department, send them a quick email asking for a clearer guarantee of authenticity.

If the items are purchased directly from the MLB, NFL, NBA, etc... then it should be a very simple process to identify the games in which the item was used.

We deserve to know, we should even be aware of when the memorabilia was used. There are some relics that I can't figure out how they belong to the player depicted because of odd colors etc.

you charge way too much for your products to deceive your consumers with choice confusing wording. Jersey cards and patch cards should be game used not just pieces of any jersey you find laying around or buy from your local wal mart.

We have a right to know exactly where the memorabilia comes from. The best was when playoff used to have a picture of the memorabilia on the back of the card.
