Apple should allow users to choose their firmware. Some are not really good for old devices. Several users have performance problems with recent firmwares.

Apple should not be locking anyone out of firmwares. When a user buys a device they should not be locked into what the manufacturer says.

I believe any device with consumer updatable software should allow downgrade back to any earlier version that was compatible to that device. For iPhones this should apply to both iOS version and baseband version.
